Main Duties of the Role
The successful candidate will provide high-quality, patient-centred primary care to our registered patient population across Earls Barton Medical Centre and Penvale Park Medical Centre. The role includes undertaking face-to-face, telephone, and online consultations; diagnosing and managing acute and chronic medical conditions; prescribing medication; reviewing test results; and making appropriate referrals to secondary care and community services.
The post holder will work collaboratively within our multidisciplinary team, contributing to the delivery of safe, effective, and responsive clinical care. They will participate in practice meetings, clinical governance, quality improvement initiatives, and contribute to the teaching and supervision of other healthcare professionals where appropriate.
The role also includes maintaining accurate clinical records, adhering to GMC and NHS standards, and supporting the practices in achieving high standards of patient care and service delivery.

Job SummaryThe Salaried GP will provide comprehensive, high-quality primary medical care to the registered patient population across Earls Barton Medical Centre and Penvale Park Medical Centre. The post holder will work collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team to deliver safe, effective, and patient-centred care while supporting the ongoing development of the practices.
Main Duties and ResponsibilitiesProvide high-quality clinical care through face-to-face, telephone, video, and online consultations.Assess, diagnose, treat, and manage acute and chronic medical conditions.Prescribe medication in accordance with local and national guidelines.Review and act upon laboratory results, clinical correspondence, and diagnostic investigations in a timely manner.Make appropriate referrals to secondary care and community services.Develop and implement evidence-based management plans in partnership with patients.Maintain accurate, contemporaneous electronic patient records using the clinical system.Participate in home visits where appropriate.Contribute to safeguarding children and vulnerable adults in accordance with practice and national policies.Work closely with the multidisciplinary team, including nurses, pharmacists, physiotherapists, paramedics, and other healthcare professionals.Participate in practice meetings, clinical governance activities, significant event reviews, and quality improvement projects.Support the achievement of QOF, Enhanced Services, and other contractual requirements where applicable.Contribute to teaching, supervision, and mentoring of GP trainees, medical students, or other healthcare professionals if required.Maintain professional registration and participate in annual appraisal and revalidation.Comply with GMC guidance, NHS regulations, and practice policies relating to confidentiality, infection prevention and control, equality and diversity, information governance, and health and safety.
Person Specification
Qualifications Essential
Essential Full registration with the General Medical Council (GMC). Inclusion on the NHS England Medical Performers List. MRCGP (or equivalent qualification). Excellent clinical knowledge and diagnostic skills. Strong communication and interpersonal skills. Ability to work effectively within a multidisciplinary team. Commitment to providing high-quality, patient-centred care. Good organisational and time management skills. Understanding of clinical governance and quality improvement.
Desirable
Desirable Experience working in UK General Practice. Interest in developing a clinical specialty. Experience supervising GP trainees or medical students. Experience with EMIS Web. Participation in service development or leadership initiatives.
