Job summary

We have an exciting role as a Healthcare Assistant (19.5 hours) this role is for our Sexual health service at Fairlawns medical centre with some travel to other sites needed.

This is an exciting opportunity to support the delivery of high-quality, patient-centred contraceptive care across Sheffield, helping improve access to essential sexual and reproductive healthcare.

Working alongside an experienced team, you will play a key role in ensuring patients receive safe, effective and compassionate care in a welcoming and inclusive environment.

Regular Shifts are:

Monday-13:30-17:30

Wednesday-13:00-17:00

Thursday- 14:00-17:30

Wednesday-16:00-20:00

Friday - 13:30-17:30

Some flexibility to pick up extra shifts.

Main duties of the job

As a Healthcare Assistant, you will support clinicians in delivering a range of contraceptive services, ensuring clinics run efficiently while maintaining the highest standards of patient care, dignity and confidentiality.

You will assist with patient assessments, clinical procedures, stock management, infection prevention and administrative duties, helping to provide a seamless patient experience.

Job description Job responsibilities

What you'll be doing:

Welcome and support patients attending contraceptive clinics. Undertake clinical observations including blood pressure, height, weight and BMI measurements. Assist clinicians during contraceptive procedures, including fitting and removal clinics where appropriate. Prepare clinical rooms and equipment before and after patient appointments. Maintain high standards of infection prevention and control. Chaperone patients during examinations and procedures when required. Ensure clinical equipment is cleaned, maintained and ready for use. Monitor and replenish clinical stock and supplies. Promote equality, diversity and inclusion, ensuring all patients feel respected and supported.We are looking for someone who is:

Knowledge and Skills Essential

Committed to providing patient centred care Versatility and the adaptability to work with different clinicians at different sites. Be an excellent communicator with strong interpersonal skills. Be passionate about improving access to sexual and reproductive healthcare

Desirable

Previous Chaperone experience

Experience Essential

Previous experience working as a Healthcare Assistant Experience with Blood pressure monitoring and urinalysis. An understanding of local safeguarding processes adult and children

Desirable

Experience in a Sexual health service Experience of assisting with IUD/IUS fits Experience of SystmOne Basic Knowledge of how different LARC systems work and LARC procedures. Previous Chaperone experience.

Qualifications Essential

NVQ Level 3 in Health and Social Care -or equivalent experience.
