Job summary
We are seeking motivated and enthusiastic Driving Educators to join our Education Team and play a key role in delivering the Trust's Workforce Development Plan.
The successful candidates will support the development of our future workforce by delivering high-quality emergency response driver training within clinical development pathways, ensuring staff achieve and maintain the skills required to operate safely and effectively.
The role will also contribute to the delivery of the Trust's Emergency Response Driving Refresher Programme, helping to ensure ongoing compliance with current legislation, national standards, and organisational requirements. Working as part of a dedicated education team, you will support learners throughout their development, promoting best practice, professionalism, and a culture of continuous improvement.
Location This post is aligned to the Trust's Education Department and can be based from our Lincolnshire, Leicestershire, or Nottinghamshire Education Centres. The majority of training delivery will take place across within our Education Centres, although travel throughout the East Midlands region may be required to meet service needs.
Main duties of the job
We are delighted to offer an exciting opportunity to join the East Midlands Ambulance Service (EMAS) Education Team as a Driving Educator.
As a key member of Organisational Learning, you will play a vital role in developing and supporting our workforce through the delivery of high-quality driver education programmes. The role encompasses the delivery of both classroom-based and practical training, supporting learners throughout their development journey, and contributing to divisional driver development and mandatory educational updates.
We are looking for a passionate and motivated individual who embodies the EMAS values and is committed to delivering excellence in education and learner support.
You will be an experienced emergency response driver with a recognised emergency driving instructor qualification, such as the L4 Diploma in Emergency Response Ambulance Driving Instruction.
You will possess excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to engage, inspire and develop learners from a variety of professional backgrounds.
As a Driver Educator, you will be responsible for delivering and assessing across a diverse portfolio of driver training programmes. You will work closely with learners and operational colleagues to ensure the highest standards of driving competence, safety and professionalism are achieved and maintained throughout the organisation.
About us
The Trust's Driving Education Team sits within the wider Organisational Learning (OL) Department and plays a critical role in the development of the Trust's workforce. The team is responsible for delivering the emergency response driving qualification phase, which forms an essential component of the development pathways for clinicians and operational staff across the organisation.
Working collaboratively with the Driving Standards Manager, Head of Education, Divisional Leadership Teams and operational colleagues, the Driving Education Team ensures that driver training is aligned to organisational priorities, national standards and legislative requirements. This collaborative approach supports the development of safe, competent and confident emergency response drivers who are equipped to deliver high-quality patient care whilst operating in demanding environments.

The team delivers a range of programmes supporting learners at various stages of their careers, from new entrants undertaking their initial emergency response driving qualification through to experienced staff completing refresher training, post-collision interventions and ongoing professional development. In addition, the team works closely with operational managers and clinical leaders to identify learning needs, support workforce development initiatives and contribute to the Trusts wider ambitions for education, quality improvement and patient safety.
