We are seeking a dedicated and reliable School Caretaker to maintain the safety, cleanliness, and overall upkeep of our small village school. Duties

Conduct regular inspections of the school premises to identify maintenance or safety issuesCarry out general cleaning duties including sweeping, mopping, dusting, and waste disposal to uphold high standards of hygieneMaintain and repair fixtures such as lights, doors, windows, and furniture as requiredEnsure all health and safety protocols are adhered to, including checking fire alarms and emergency exits are accessibleManage security systems and oversee access control to ensure the safety of staff and pupilsAssist with setting up classrooms and event spaces for school activities or meetingsReport any damages or hazards promptly to the appropriate authorities for resolutionOversee external grounds maintenance, including gardening or snow clearance when necessaryLiaise with school staff regarding maintenance schedules and urgent repairsRequirements

Proven experience in building maintenance, cleaning, or caretaking roles preferred but not essential; training will be provided where necessaryStrong organisational skills with an eye for detailAbility to undertake physical tasks including lifting, moving equipment, and working at heights if requiredGood understanding of health and safety regulations relevant to school environmentsReliable with a strong work ethic and the ability to work independently or as part of a teamFlexibility to respond promptly to urgent repairs or emergencies outside normal working hours if neededBasic knowledge of security systems and procedures is advantageousMust demonstrate the ability to speak fluent English at a level appropriate to be able to carry out the duties of the post.This role is essential in creating a safe, clean, and welcoming environment for all members of the school community.
