The IT University of Copenhagen invites highly motivated individuals to apply for an Associate Professor position starting in November 2026 or soon thereafter. Job description We look to hire a candidate holding a PhD in Robotics. The candidates are expected to conduct research and research-based teaching in areas such as: Embodied affective robotics Context comprehension for robotics Agentic control architectures for robotics Human-Robot Interaction Computer Science A good approximation of the area of interest is the scope of conferences and journals such as IROS, RO-MAN, Ubiquitous Robotics (UR), and Transactions on Affective Computing. The ideal candidate should document: Competence in developing and conducting teaching that is both effective and well received by students. Competence in conducting high quality academic research, reflected in demonstratable outputs. Experience in engaging and collaborating with academics, industry, public sector, etc. Strong cooperation skills and ability to work in a team. Contributions to the goals of the institutions in which they have worked as well as to the research community, for example participation in committees, etc. In addition, candidates for the position should be able to: Attract external research funding Supervise PhD students Read/speak a Scandinavian language (or have the willingness to learn Danish) The selected applicant will join REAL research group at Data, Systems, and Robotics ( DSAR ) section at ITU. DSAR section conducts research in various aspects of infrastructure for data science, scalable and efficient systems supporting the data lifecycle, meta-science, artificial intelligence, robotics, and evolutionary computation, as well as a range of applications. Its faculty is responsible for many courses in the ITU BSc programs for Software Development and Data Science, and MSc programs for Computer Science, Data Science, and Software Design. The selected applicant is expected to teach in one or more of these programs. Salary and terms of employment Appointment and salary will be in accordance with the Ministry of Taxation’s agreement with the Danish Confederation of Professional Associations (AC) and job structure for academic staff at universities.
