About this role

We welcome applications from candidates interested in working part-time hours or job-sharing arrangements.

This part time (0.5 FTE) position is available from 20 April 2026 on a fixed term basis until 16 October 2026

The post

The Faculty wishes to recruit a Postdoctoral Research Associate to support the work of Dr. Shuyue Lin. This EPSRC Supergen Offshore Renewable Energy Hub funded post is available from 20 April 2026. The successful applicant will contribute to research on advanced control strategies for offshore wind farms, with a particular focus on the integration of grid-forming (GFM) and grid-following (GFL) control to enhance system resilience. The role will involve developing and analysing control algorithms, investigating system stability under disturbances, and evaluating performance under varying grid conditions. The employment contract is subject to funding.

The post will include modelling and simulation of offshore wind farm systems, implementing adaptive GFM-GFL control strategies, and assessing their impact on grid stability and fault response. The PDRA will also support the integration of control approaches within realistic system scenarios, including interaction with grid dynamics and converter-based resources.

About you

The successful applicant will be able to present information on research progress and outcomes, communicate complex information, orally, in writing and electronically and prepare proposals and applications to external bodies.

Applicants will possess a relevant PhD (or nearing completion) or possess an equivalent qualification/experience in a related field of study and be able to demonstrate sufficient knowledge in the discipline and of research methods and techniques to work within established research programmes. Applicants should have knowledge in control and grid integration of offshore wind farms.
