About this role

About the Role

The Head of AI and Automation Delivery is responsible for the operational delivery and business-facing management of AI, automation, and application initiatives within the AAA Programme.

The role ensures that approved demand is shaped, planned, delivered, and embedded effectively, acting as the primary interface between business stakeholders and AAA delivery teams.

In addition to overseeing end-to-end delivery of approved initiatives, the role provides management and oversight of the Low Code Centre of Excellence (CoE), ensuring that low-code solutions developed centrally or through citizen development are secure, supportable, and aligned with institutional standards.

The role also includes line management responsibility for a small delivery-facing team, ensuring clear objectives, professional development, and effective utilisation.

About You

The postholder operates within established strategy, governance, and funding frameworks, leading delivery execution, stakeholder coordination, and benefits tracking, while escalating strategic or cross-institutional issues to the Programme Director as appropriate. The focus of the team will be to support a professional services culture of ownership, collaboration, and continuous improvement.

About the Department

The AAA Programme operates across a diverse and complex institutional environment, bringing together demand from multiple faculties and professional services, and delivering solutions through a combination of in-house teams, low-code and pro-code delivery, citizen development, and external suppliers. Central to the programme is a consistent demand-management and delivery model that ensures ideas are appropriately triaged, prioritised, delivered and embedded into business-as-usual operations.

About Queen Mary

At Queen Mary University of London, we believe that a diversity of ideas helps us achieve the previously unthinkable.

Throughout our history, we’ve fostered social justice and improved lives through academic excellence. And we continue to live and breathe this spirit today, not because it’s simply ‘the right thing to do’ but for what it helps us achieve and the intellectual brilliance it delivers.

Our reformer heritage informs our conviction that great ideas can and should come from anywhere. It’s an approach that has brought results across the globe, from the communities of east London to the favelas of Rio de Janeiro.

We continue to embrace diversity of thought and opinion in everything we do, in the belief that when views collide, disciplines interact, and perspectives intersect, truly original thought takes form.
