Job Description
This is a full-time role within Visa's Commercial and Private Banks Team, responsible for driving portfolio performance, commercial optimization, and client incentive management for the Commerzbank relationship in Germany. Reporting to the Account Director, this role serves as the commercial performance lead for the account, translating portfolio insights into actionable growth opportunities and ensuring rigorous management of commercial KPIs, strategic priorities, and client incentive agreements.
The successful candidate will combine commercial acumen, portfolio analysis, and strategic account planning to identify opportunities to accelerate growth, improve issuer profitability, and maximize Visa's business outcomes. Working closely with Account Executives and cross-functional partners across Product, Marketing, Finance, and VCA, the role will help shape data-driven account plans and ensure the right products, solutions, and commercial initiatives are deployed to unlock portfolio value and deliver against ambitious revenue objectives. Key Responsibilities: Portfolio Performance & Growth Optimization
• Own the performance management framework for the Commerzbank multi-product portfolio, including the development, tracking, and reporting of key commercial and portfolio KPIs. • Monitor portfolio performance, identify emerging trends, risks, and opportunities, and develop recommendations to improve portfolio growth and client profitability. • Drive a data-driven account planning approach by identifying the products, capabilities, and strategic initiatives that can unlock incremental growth and improve portfolio performance. • Analyze portfolio dynamics, product penetration, client economics, and strategic growth opportunities to support account prioritization and investment decisions. • Produce regular portfolio reviews and executive reporting, translating performance insights into clear commercial actions. • Maintain scorecards and dashboards that support performance management, opportunity identification, and business decision-making. Client Incentive & Commercial Management
• Lead the ongoing management and governance of Client Incentive Agreements (CIAs), ensuring compliance with contractual obligations and internal governance requirements. • Monitor incentive performance against business case assumptions and identify potential risks, gaps, and optimization opportunities. • Partner with Finance and Account Executives to support commercial evaluations, incentive discussions, and portfolio investment decisions. Strategic Account Planning & Execution
• Partner with cross-functional teams to design and execute initiatives that improve issuer performance and drive Visa revenue growth. • Support the development and execution of account plans by providing performance insights, opportunity assessments, and portfolio recommendations. • Contribute to Quarterly Business Reviews, Portfolio Reviews, and Strategic Planning Sessions through performance reporting and growth-oriented recommendations. • Prepare executive-level presentations and briefing materials for internal and client-facing engagements. • Champion a culture of data-driven decision-making and continuous performance improvement across the account team. This role offers the opportunity to operate at the center of one of Visa's strategic issuer partnerships in Germany, combining commercial thinking, portfolio performance management, and strategic account planning to help shape and accelerate the future growth of the business. • Professional experience in financial services, payments, consulting, portfolio management, commercial strategy, sales enablement, or business performance roles. • Degree-level qualification, MBA preferred. Solid foundation in business principles and advanced management techniques. • Strong analytical skills with the ability to translate data and insights into commercial actions and strategic recommendations. • Experience in portfolio performance management, business planning, profitability analysis, and KPI reporting. • Understanding of payments, card portfolio economics, client incentives, pricing, or commercial agreements is highly desirable. • Advanced Excel and data analysis capabilities; experience with BI and dashboarding tools is preferred. • Strong stakeholder management and influencing skills, with the ability to align cross-functional teams around shared business objectives. • Excellent communication and presentation skills, including the preparation of executive-level materials. • Energy, resilience, and a positive approach to solving complex business challenges. • Ability to manage multiple priorities and operate effectively in a fast-paced, matrixed organization. • Fluency in German and English.
