What will you do? A day in the life of a Manager, Tax Accounting at VF looks a little like this.

The Tax Accounting group at VF plays a critical role within the global finance organization, ensuring accurate and timely financial reporting of income taxes while supporting strategic business initiatives. With operations spanning numerous legal entities across multiple jurisdictions, the team operates in a complex regulatory environment requiring deep technical expertise in ASC 740, strong coordination across global stakeholders, and a continuous focus on process efficiency and control integrity.

To succeed, the team must maintain a comprehensive understanding of VF’s global business operations, financial reporting processes, and tax positions. Accuracy and timeliness in tax accounting are essential, as errors or control deficiencies can lead to financial misstatement risk, audit exposure, and inefficiencies. Through strong technical execution, process improvements, and collaboration, the Tax Accounting team ensures compliance, transparency, and operational excellence in reporting VF’s global tax position.

The Manager, Tax Accounting is responsible for leading and executing significant components of the global tax provision process, including planning, preparation, consolidation, forecasting, review, and external reporting. This role is expected to bring strong hands-on tax accounting experience, demonstrate ownership over complex ASC 740 matters, drive process discipline and automation opportunities, and partner effectively with cross-functional teams and external advisors. The position plays a critical role in ensuring accurate reporting to the SEC, maintaining effective controls, supporting audit readiness, and advising on business initiatives such as M&A, supply chain optimization, and global restructuring while reporting to the Senior Director – Tax Accounting & Tax Operations.

Let’s break down that day-in-the-life a bit more.

US GAAP Tax Accounting and Reporting

• Lead the preparation and analysis of the consolidated annual and quarterly income tax provision under ASC 740, including valuation allowance, uncertain tax position, deferred tax, effective tax rate, and related SEC footnote disclosures. • Lead the preparation and analysis of specific local country annual tax provision calculations across multiple jurisdictions, ensuring consistency with global reporting standards, local statutory requirements, and corporate tax positions.

Global (Non-U.S.) Tax Compliance

• Manage the global non-U.S. corporate income tax and Pillar 2 compliance outsource engagement, including coordination with regional finance and tax teams, review of key deliverables, monitoring of deadlines, and escalation of significant technical or process issues. • Lead the preparation and detail review of return-to-provision calculations as local income tax returns are completed, identify significant variances, and ensure appropriate documentation and communication of provision impacts.

Forecasting, Planning, and Financial Integration

• Own key aspects of quarterly effective tax rate forecasting by partnering with the broader tax department, FP&A, Treasury, Legal, and Financial Reporting to incorporate business changes, planning initiatives, and jurisdictional tax impacts.

Process Improvement and Controls

• Drive enhancements to global tax provision processes, systems, and documentation, including identification of automation opportunities, standardization of workpapers, and execution of SOX 404 tax controls.

Strategic Leadership and Technical Excellence

• Serve as a technical resource on ASC 740 matters, including complex tax accounting judgments, audit support, documentation of conclusions, and communication of technical issues to tax and finance leadership.

The foundation skills you will need in this position are:

• 5+ years of progressive income tax accounting, tax reporting, or corporate tax experience, preferably with a combination of public accounting and multinational public company experience • Advanced knowledge of ASC 740, U.S. GAAP income tax reporting, SEC reporting requirements, and internal control expectations for public companies • Experience leading or significantly contributing to global provision processes, effective tax rate forecasting, audit support, and tax technology platforms such as ONESOURCE Tax Provision
