About this role
The Designer is responsible for supporting the design, development, and maintenance of valve and actuator products within the Valmet Flow Control business line. This role works with the product engineering team to create detailed design documentation, support product development initiatives, and ensure designs meet customer, regulatory, and manufacturing requirements.
The position focuses on mechanical design execution, CAD modeling, drafting, and support of engineering change processes across valve, actuator, and integrated control systems.
Key Responsibilities Design & Drafting
• Create detailed 3D models, assemblies, and manufacturing drawings for valves, actuators, and related components using CAD tools (e.g., SolidWorks). • Develop and maintain engineering documentation including drawings, BOMs, and design specifications. • Ensure designs comply with applicable standards (e.g., ASME, API, ISO) and company design practices.
Product Development Support
• Support new product development, product upgrades, and cost-out initiatives. • Assist engineers in concept development, prototyping, and design validation. • Participate in design reviews and provide constructive feedback on manufacturability and performance. Engineering Change Management
• Execute Engineering Change Notices (ECNs) and update documentation accordingly. • Maintain revision control and ensure design data integrity in PLM/PDM systems. Testing & Validation Support
• Assist in preparation of test setups, including valve/actuator assemblies. • Support analysis of research and development laboratory test results (e.g., pressure testing, sealing performance). • Document findings and incorporate feedback into design updates.
Qualifications Education
• Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering Technology, Mechanical Engineering, or related field (or equivalent experience). Experience
• 2–7 years of experience in mechanical design, drafting, or product engineering (valves, actuators, rotating equipment, or similar industrial products preferred). • Experience working in a manufacturing or industrial environment is strongly preferred.
• Proficiency with 3D CAD tools (SolidWorks preferred). • Understanding of mechanical design fundamentals (tolerancing, fits, materials, GD&T). • Experience with PLM/PDM systems and ERP systems a plus.
