McCombs School of Business is looking for a creative, motivated, and organized student employee to provide support for the Kay Bailey Hutchison Energy Center.

The Kay Bailey Hutchison Energy Center advances energy education, research, and industry engagement by connecting students with leaders across the energy sector through events, student programs, and strategic communications.

The Student Communications Assistant will assist with capturing and creating engaging digital content, supporting the Center's social media presence, maintaining website content, and promoting student programs and events throughout the academic year.

Responsibilities:

• Capture photo and video content at student programs, guest lectures, networking events, and other campus activities.

• Edit short-form videos and graphics for Instagram, LinkedIn, and other digital platforms.

• Create and publish Instagram Stories highlighting student events, opportunities, and Center activities.

• Update website content, including news articles, council member profiles, and event information.

• Support other communications and marketing projects as assigned.

Required Qualifications:

• Must be authorized to work in the U.S.

• Must be a University of Texas at Austin student, enrolled for at least 6 credit hours.

• Basic experience with photography and videography.

• Basic video editing skills.

• Basic experience creating content for social media platforms, particularly Instagram.

• Strong written and verbal communication skills.

• Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Familiarity with Canva and/or Adobe Creative Suite.

• Basic experience updating website content using a content management system (CMS).

• Interest in marketing, communications, journalism, public relations, or digital media.

• Interest in energy, business, or higher education communications.

Hourly Rate:

• $18

Working Conditions:

• Work performed in standard office conditions.

• Repetitive use of keyboard at a workstation.

Schedule Work Shift:

• 9 hours per week

• Position ends on April 30th, 2027

• Rehire eligible based on performance.
