Job Posting Title: SSB Senior Student Associate---- Hiring Department: University Unions---- Position Open To: All Applicants---- Weekly Scheduled Hours: 19---- FLSA Status: Non-Exempt from FLSA---- Earliest Start Date: Aug 24, 2026---- Position Duration: Expected to Continue Until Sep 01, 2026---- Location: UT MAIN CAMPUS---- Job Details: General Notes Purpose University Unions is currently hiring a Graduate Student Assistant for Student Services Building Management. The Student Team Development Graduate Assistant position will provide mentorship and support to the SSB student staff, assist with hiring/training/managing student staff, promote professional development opportunities, and focus on team building.

Length of assignment: 9-month position, starting in August (with potential to renew for a second year)

Responsibilities The duties and responsibilities vary, but may include: Team Supervision & Support

• Serve as point of contact for student desk attendants

• Provide support and mentorship to undergraduate leads

• Conduct periodic check-ins and facilitate peer feedback

• Assist in hiring, onboarding, and training new student staff

• Approve timesheets at the end of each pay period

• Track performance, absences, late arrivals, and team morale

• Develop and maintain training documents and resource guides

Leadership Development

• Help student-leads improve scheduling processes

• Community Building • Foster a sense of team through formal/informal gatherings

• Lead initiatives to improve engagement and team cohesion

Event Planning: Finals Fest

• Recruit and lead a small committee of student workers each semester

• Facilitate planning sessions that center student ideas and creativity

• Manage logistics with Building Manager support

• Promote the event to increase attendance and community engagement

• Execute and attend the event

• Keep Zero-Waste philosophy in mind when planning the event

Required Qualifications

• Must be a currently enrolled graduate student (taking at least 9 hours).

• Interest in student management and team building

• Ability to adapt and manage multiple duties simultaneously

• Excellent written and oral communication skills

• Experience with computer hardware and software, including mobile devices.

Relevant education and experience may be substituted as appropriate.

• Management experience

• Experience and comfort with leadership development

• Proven organizational skills and strong interpersonal skills

• Ability to make independent, ethical decisions using good judgment

Salary Range $17.00 per hour

Work Shift

• Hours (19 max) to be scheduled between 8:00am and 7:00pm, Monday through Friday, with some prescheduled weekend hours.

• May require weekend evenings and/or weekend work.
