• Fixed term position through to Dec 2026 with FTE salary in the range $97,268 - $104,348 (HEW 6), plus a generous super allowance of up to 17%.

• Empower the next generation of researchers by delivering specialist, end to end support for UQ’s Higher Degree by Research (HDR) candidates from induction to conferral.

• Navigate the complexities of the HDR lifecycle with high-level judgment and professional agility, acting as a trusted advisor to candidates and academic leaders alike.

• Position based at our St Lucia campus and/or Dutton Park campus (the nature of the role requires flexibility to work at our Herston, St Lucia and Dutton Park campus as required. Occasional Gatton campus based work may be required)

About This Opportunity As a Graduate Research Coordinator (GRC), you are the face of the Graduate Research School, providing critical front-line service delivery. You will manage a diverse portfolio of HDR candidates, ensuring they hit every milestone with precision. This role is perfect for a proactive problem solver who enjoys the intersection of policy and people, working closely with Directors of HDR and Faculty colleagues to maintain UQ’s world-class research standards.

Key responsibilities will include: Candidature Management

• Lead the end-to-end lifecycle in SiNet, managing everything from commencement and progression requests to complex thesis examination logistics.

Specialist Advisory

• Provide high-level policy and procedural advice to candidates and academic advisors, translating complex University guidelines into actionable solutions.

Stakeholder Orchestration

• Partner with Directors of HDR and Associate Deans to provide data-driven insights and case histories that support strategic cohort management.

Community Engagement

• Drive candidate success by coordinating induction activities, promoting HDR events, and connecting researchers with career development opportunities.

Continuous Improvement

• Contribute to the evolution of the Graduate Research School by developing self-service resources and participating in strategic performance initiatives.

About You You are a resilient, service oriented professional who thrives in a fast-paced environment where no two days are the same. You possess the sharp judgment required to interpret complex policy and the communication skills to build trust across a multi-faculty landscape.

• An undergraduate degree plus at least four years of experience in the higher education sector (or an equivalent combination of education and experience).

• Proven ability to use initiative, prioritise competing deadlines, and interpret complex issues under minimal supervision.

• Exceptional interpersonal skills with the ability to manage sensitive case management discussions and communicate with stakeholders at all levels.

• Proficiency in navigating corporate information systems and a rapid ability to master new platforms (familiarity with SiNet is highly regarded).

• A deep commitment to delivering high-quality service and fostering a supportive community for international and domestic researchers.
