Overview of Vax: Our heritage-rich, expert-led business has always had the same goal: to prioritize innovation and to design easy-to-use products that seamlessly integrate into our customers' lives, offering reliable, quick solutions to cleaning homes, whatever the mess.
Vax has forged its reputation as a brand that focuses on the needs of its customers. Our culture of innovation is at the heart of everything we do and we work hard to constantly think of new ways to improve our products, ensuring that we deliver premium quality products for our customers.
Simulations and systems engineer
Global Floorcare, part of TTI, is home to two iconic floorcare brands: Vax and Hoover.
Together, we combine decades of expertise with a passion for innovation, creating products that make cleaning faster, easier and more effective for millions of customers around the world.
Our success is built on understanding the needs of consumers and continuously pushing the boundaries of what's possible in floorcare. Backed by the scale and strength of a global business, we are committed to developing high-quality, innovative solutions that deliver exceptional performance and help people care for their homes with confidence. As a Simulation & System Engineer, you’ll use modelling, simulation and systems thinking to help shape the next generation of products. Working as part of our Technical Research group, within Advanced Development, you’ll develop predictive models, evaluate product architectures and reduce risk before concepts progress into development. Key Duties include:
• Develop and maintain system models to predict product performance and behaviour. • Apply CFD, System Modelling and Multi Physics simulations to support concept and technology development. • Capture and translate product requirements into engineering models and performance targets. • Correlate simulations with physical testing to improve model accuracy and engineering confidence. • Identify technical risks, evaluate design trade offs and support evidence-based decision making upfront of any prototyping efforts within Advanced Development. • Work closely with Mechanical, Electrical and Industrial Design teams to predict, conceptualise and optimise product performance. • Support the development of engineering tools, methods and modelling capability within TTI Floorcare. • Present technical findings and recommendations in a clear and engaging way for both technical and nontechnical stakeholders.
What we’re looking for You’re a creative yet analytical engineer who enjoys understanding how products behave before they’re built. You combine engineering science with practical thinking, using simulation and systems engineering to solve complex problems, optimise performance and support confident engineering decisions. Skills, Experience & Competencies
• Bachelor’s degree (BSc or BEng) in Mechanical, Aerospace, Systems Engineering or related discipline. (Master’s advantageous but not required). • 5+ Years experience in simulation, modelling or systems engineering within complex consumer or electromechanical products. • Experience with Motors, Compressors, Filtration Systems and Pumps is desirable. • Demonstrated experience in engineering disciplines such as CFD, NVH, System Modelling, Multi-Physics or Performance Engineering. • Strong understanding of mechanical design principles, fluid dynamics, aeroacoustics, heat transfer, structural behaviour and system level engineering. • Ability to correlate tested and simulated data to derive levels of confidence in predicted vs actual system performance. • Experience using simulations, engineering analysis and physical testing to de risk technologies in support of engineering decisions. • Proven ability to define system requirements, performance targets and technical validation strategies. • Excellent first principles engineering capability, analytical thinking and mechanical engineering judgement. • Confident communicator with experience presenting complex technical recommendations to senior stakeholders and cross functional teams. • Experience with ANSYS, Mat Lab, Python Scripting and Excel. • Experience with Minitab, COMSOL and other analytical packages desirable.
What Makes You Successful
• System Thinking: You understand how components interact in a physics domain to influence over product / system performance. • Predictive Engineering: You love to use models to predict and guide engineering decisions before hardware exists. • Technical Rigour: You build confidence through robust analysis, validation and evidence. • Problem Solving: You simplify complex engineering challenges into practical and actionable solutions. • Collaboration: You work seamlessly across disciplines to improve product performance and technical understanding. • Continuous Learning: You continually develop new modelling techniques, engineering methods and technical capability.
