• Ensure with inspection companies that quality is as per blend plans and in line with contractual provisions.

• Investigate Quantity losses and explore remedial action.

• Trouble shoot when plans change and provide solutions.

• Actively manage the terminals line up to mitigate demurrage.

• Review stowage plans and monitor vessel progress during voyages.

• Appoint third-party providers in line with group policy; oversee clean acceptance of vessels on subjects and chartering progress.

• Liaise and co-ordinate with Finance, providing accurate and timely data needed for the issuance of L/Cs and P/Us.

• Issue documentary instructions to suppliers and handle all aspects of customs exportation/importation where applicable.

• Maintain good contract and shipping files electronically; keep Pluto updated regularly and minimise exceptions.

• Complete voyage and storage reconciliations to identify and investigate loss/gain differences for each operation.

• Monitor and advise the deals desk of all costs related to each transaction, maintaining P&L awareness.

• Ensure operations are optimised to best commercial advantage, meeting all contractual obligations (e.g. minimising demurrage exposure).

• Maximise recoveries; document, present and secure payment of all claims to third parties.

• Maintain strong working relationships with trade support divisions — claims, deals desk, trade finance and chartering — and with counterparts and third-party service providers.

• Train and develop less experienced members of the operations team to increase knowledge and commercial awareness.

• Follow internal procedures and company policies; adhere to Trafigura's Code of Conduct, HSEC Policy and Business Principles.

• Identify operational issues and escalate to the Regional Manager as appropriate.

Required qualifications

• At least 5 years' experience in cargo operations in a global oil trading company.

• Experience working on Gasoline cargo operations with a preference for experience with blending operations.

• Ability to interpret the operational requirements of contracts and comment on operational aspects; understanding of the basic legal framework supporting oil contracts.

• Ability to interpret charter party terms against the interacting oil contract; good understanding of common ship operations and terminology.

• Good understanding of relevant petroleum product specifications, analytical methods, laboratory precision and inspection procedures.

• Good understanding of different types of financial instruments, their uses, and the importance of LOIs and shipping documents within the trading process.

Preferred qualifications

• Experience across multiple product desks (Gasoline, Distillates and Fuel Oil).

• Familiarity with Pluto or similar trade operations management systems.

• Exposure to storage logistics and reconciliation processes.

Attributes for success

• Strong decision-making ability — comfortable navigating ambiguity and complexity in a fast-moving trading environment.

• Effective networker who builds and maintains relationships with counterparts, service providers and internal stakeholders.

• Organised and detail-oriented, with strong planning and prioritisation skills.

• Resourceful and commercially aware, with a proactive approach to problem-solving.
