Summary of Primary Functions: Analyzes contract documents, plans, specifications, proposals, and other documentation to determine costs associated with precast concrete scope by performing essential duties as listed below.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities: All employees are required to follow all Safety and Quality rules and processes to ensure a safe working environment, and the production of high-quality products.
• Reviews contract documents to determine precast scope of work. Types of projects would normally include parking garages, warehouses, schools, jails, prisons or other facilities requiring innovative concrete products.
• Perform accurate takeoff of precast components.
• Utilize Excel spreadsheets to determine plant, freight, and field operations costs associated with the project.
• Prepares estimates to be used by management, sales, planning, engineering, and field operations in scheduling work, preparing bids; consults with clients, vendors, or other individuals to discuss and formulate estimates and resolve issues as requested by Sales personnel.
• Completes duties and responsibilities in the appropriate time frame with minimal supervision.
• Conducts special studies to develop and establish standard hour and related cost date of effect cost reductions.
• Interfaces with other individuals in the organization to obtain support and commitment to cost estimates.
• Visualizes and/or creates 3-D precast concept from 2-D contract drawings.
• Performs additional duties as assigned.
• Understands engineering concepts regarding general structural concepts, connections, component limitations, and constructability.
• Has daily contact with fellow employees in other units of the company, top management, customers and vendors/suppliers.
Job Specifications or Qualifications:
Education: Associates Degree (2 year) or an equivalent combination of experience/training is needed.
