How Will You Make an Impact? Support the production of high-performance scientific instrumentation by ensuring electronic components and assemblies meet Thermo Fisher Scientific's quality and reliability standards. Through advanced troubleshooting, repair, inspection, and failure analysis, you will help improve product quality, reduce manufacturing defects, and enable the delivery of reliable solutions to customers worldwide. 1st shift Monday - Thursday flexible hours
A Day in the Life:
-Perform failure analysis and root cause investigations on printed circuit boards (PCBs), vacuum tubes, and other electronic assemblies. -Troubleshoot, repair, and rework electronic assemblies using established procedures, schematics, and engineering documentation. -Perform precision soldering and component-level rework in accordance with applicable workmanship standards. -Conduct incoming inspection of mechanical and electronic components using GD&T principles, engineering drawings, and inspection equipment.\ -Perform visual and dimensional inspection on incoming material and components. -Perform in-process inspections and testing. -Participate in MRB meetings relating to non-conforming material. -Maintain a calibration schedule and records for all equipment. -Manage the timely calibration of equipment using external calibration vendors and by performing calibration on tooling/equipment in house as needed. -Evaluate returned material (RMA) to determine failure modes, identify root causes, and recommend repair or disposition. -Document inspection results, repair activities, nonconformances, and failure analysis findings in quality and manufacturing systems. -Determine disposition of nonconforming material, including repair, rework, or scrap, while ensuring compliance with quality procedures. -Collaborate with Manufacturing, Engineering, and Quality teams to resolve product issues and implement corrective actions. -Support continuous improvement initiatives by identifying recurring failure trends and recommending process improvements. -Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment while following all company quality and safety procedures.
Education: High school diploma or equivalent required. Experience: Required: Minimum of 1 year of work experience in QA or QC related fields with an emphasis on electronics troubleshooting. Preferred: Experience in a cGMP environment
Knowledge, Skills, Abilities: -Knowledge of analog and digital electronic circuits and PCB troubleshooting techniques. -Ability to read and interpret electrical schematics, engineering drawings, and GD&T requirements. -Able to read and understand engineering drawings (dimensioning and tolerancing). -Effectively and accurately able to use monitoring and measuring equipment. -Proficiency using multimeters, oscilloscopes, soldering and rework equipment, and precision inspection tools. -Knowledge of root cause analysis methodologies and structured problem-solving techniques. -Excellent attention to detail with strong documentation and organizational skills. -Ability to prioritize multiple tasks while working independently and collaboratively within a cross-functional team. -Proficiency with Microsoft Office and quality/manufacturing software systems. - Experience working in Quality Management Systems.
Physical Requirements / Work Environment Quiet, clean, and fast paced environment. Sitting and standing for long periods of time, some walking, small lifting amounts, typically less than 20lbs.
Compensation and Benefits The hourly pay range estimated for this position based in Colorado is $22.00–$24.00. This position may also be eligible to receive a variable annual bonus based on company, team, and/or individual performance results in accordance with company policy.
