We are looking for a Software Developer to join SOK Digital Development. Our primary workplace is our Helsinki office, Ässäkeskus, where we meet our colleagues several times a week. When your duties allow, you can also work flexibly remotely for part of the week.
About the job
You will be part of the core development team, working on the next generation of the sokos.fi online store. You will join a squad focused on improving customer experience and order fulfilment, building customer‑facing services and closely related backend services.
This role exists to help modernize and evolve our commerce platform. By solving complex technical and product challenges, you will directly impact how customers experience S Group’s digital services at scale.
Your responsibilities include full‑stack development across backend and frontend services, contributing to architecture and technical decisions, and continuously improving software quality and development practices. Your workdays consist of close collaboration with other developers, designers, business developers, and other stakeholders, with a strong emphasis on teamwork and shared ownership.
The goal of the role is to help the team succeed as a whole, deliver value to customers, and strengthen a product‑oriented and data‑driven way of working. You will work in a cross‑functional squad, supported by a central DevOps & Developer Experience team. Teams own their cloud deployments and CI/CD pipelines, and collaboration across internal teams is an essential part of everyday work.
What are we looking for?
We are looking for a senior‑level full‑stack developer with solid experience in modern web development and a strong product mindset. You have the ability to guide others, make thoughtful technical decisions, and prioritize team success over individual achievement. For this position, you will need fluent English language skills.
We value excellent collaboration and pair programming skills, a continuous improvement mindset, and a value‑driven approach to development. You are data‑driven, able to support data‑based decision‑making, strengthen feedback loops, and coach these practices within the team. Experience in e‑commerce or product data is considered a bonus.
Our current technology stack includes TypeScript, React, Next.js, OpenNext and Contentful on the frontend; Node.js on the backend; and AWS services such as Lambda, API Gateway, RDS PostgreSQL, DynamoDB, S3 and SQS. We use Serverless Framework, Terraform and GitLab CI/CD as part of our development workflow.
