Overview The Protection Supervisor manages the daily operation of RHS Facility Protection to ensure a safe and secure healthcare environment and to maintain order throughout all assigned facilities and grounds. Provides leadership in the absence of the Protection Manager/Director to ensure the protection of facility assets, patients, staff and visitors. Ensures that protection services and assistance, as outlined by policies and procedures and management, are accomplished for visitors, patients/residents and staff.
What you will do
• Ensure that systematic and unsystematic tours of facility grounds and buildings are conducted to provide for the safety and security of all persons and property and to prevent fire, theft, vandalism, criminal activity, and illegal entry. Ensure the enforcement of the facility’s policy and procedures such as trespassing, smoking, parking regulations and visitation at the direction of management. Handle disorderly conduct within facility. • Serve as a resource to the Protection Manager/Director in managing the daily functions of the Protection department. Provide daily operational leadership to staff and as directed by Management. Provide on-the-job training and facility familiarity training for new or reassigned officers to the shift to enhance retention and help reduce turnover of staff. Provide necessary leadership to ensure resolution to emergency situations. Communicate reliably and accurately with all members of the team. • Monitor/support personal and departmental productivity to meet needs of department, i.e. , flexing hours, shift changes, time off. Complete and maintain staffing schedules to ensure sufficient staffing. Review and make recommendations to published schedules and activities. Review and make recommendations to published schedules and activities evidenced by the following - meets weekend, off shift and holiday staffing requirements. Ensure the accuracy and timeliness of payroll sheets and work schedules to minimize payroll adjustments. Assist management with seeking replacements for time changes of any type. • Maintain and ensure complete and accurate incident records in rCare. Review and ensure that incident reports are written for criminal activities, unsafe conditions or unusual circumstances, including safety and fire hazards. Record and release lost/found and patient valuables in accordance with policy or at the direction of management. Conduct in-depth initial investigation of all criminal incidents as assigned by management with documentation. Manage the RRMC morgue process to ensure accuracy of all reports and information. Assist with the updates to all departmental manuals and ensure accuracy and timeliness of information in the blotter. • Assist the Manager/Director with managing cost of Protection services within budget. Monitor the ordering and use of all supplies for RRMC Protection Console. • Maintain a working knowledge of the TOTS (RRMC & RSMH only), Genetec access and video system, Worxhub and Omnigo (RRMC only). Conduct Safety/Security inspections of identified units and departments. Monitor and troubleshoot fire, intrusion, duress, medical and security alarm systems to ensure timely follow-up to events. Ensure facility compliance with applicable regulations, rules, laws, and professional organization standards by conducting and participating in daily, weekly or monthly inspection or drills at the direction of management, to include fire drill compliance and emergency preparedness participation. Ensure daily test of all RRMC duress alarms is conducted. Update and maintain key log for alarmed facilities. • Complete computer based training and other employee training modules necessary for position to remain up to date on safety issues, procedures and processes. Identify opportunities for service improvement and participate in process improvement and departmental in-services. Responsible for ensuring safe practices as referenced in the National Patient Safety Goals, NIAHO, NFPA, ISO and in accordance with RHS policies and procedures. Keep work area neat, clean and in compliance with RHS, DNV and State safety standards. • Maintain logs, input work orders into Worxhub, input calls for service into Ominigo, SOPs and current Communication manual, fire extinguishers and equipment. Inspection of Protection vehicles and vehicle equipment to include scheduling of maintenance. Initiate performance improvement efforts and monitoring. Adhere to policy and procedure. Review goals, accomplishments, policies and procedures.
Qualifications
Education
• High School Diploma or GED, (Preferred)
Experience
• Prior security experience (Required) • 2 years Leadership experience in Security or related field (i.e., military supervisory experience acceptable) (Preferred) • 2 years Healthcare experience (Preferred)
Skills and Abilities
• Ability to prioritize and accomplish assignments with accuracy and timeliness ( work assignments completed by deadlines, received minimal customer complaints) • Ability to communicate reliably and accurately with all members of the team • Ability to respond with flexibility to changes and adapt to varying work assignments to deliver services in an effective way • Internal candidates must apply and not have any Final Written Disciplinary Warnings within 12 months of application date
Licenses and Certifications
• Certified Crisis Prevention (CPI) - The Crisis Prevention Institute (CPI) (RMHRC required within 15 days) Upon Hire (Required) • CPR/BLS Certification - American Heart Association/American Red Cross/American Safety and Health Institute (AHA/ARC) Upon Hire (Required) • Certified Auto External Defibrillator (AED) - American Heart Association/American Red Cross/American Safety and Health Institute (AHA/ARC) If CPR is not BLS certification, AED is also required Upon Hire (Required) • Control Tactics - A To Z Training Solutions (Acute Care Facilities Only) Upon Hire (Required) • Certified Crisis Prevention (CPI) - The Crisis Prevention Institute (CPI) -Advance Physical Skills (RMHRC Only) within 90 Days (Required) • IAHSS Basic - International Association for Healthcare Security and Safety (IAHSS) within 1 Year (Required) • IAHSS Advanced - International Association for Healthcare Security and Safety (IAHSS) within 1 Year (Required) • IAHSS Supervisor - International Association for Healthcare Security and Safety (IAHSS) within 1 Year (Required) • Operates company vehicles as essential function of the job • Valid Drivers License (Required)
