Job Summary: The Systems Administration Analyst supports the design, implementation, maintenance, and optimization of the organization’s server and infrastructure environments. Working closely with the Systems Administration Manager, this role ensures the reliability, security, and performance of production, development, and test systems. The analyst proactively monitors system health, resolves issues, and contributes to long‑term infrastructure planning.

Duties/ Responsibilities:
• Set up, maintain, configure, and support all physical and virtualized servers. • Monitor system performance and identify potential issues before they occur. Proactively correct any issues as they appear. • Perform troubleshooting activities on production servers during off-hours (nights or weekends) if required to minimize impact on business continuity or operations. • Participate proactively in capacity planning for the infrastructure. • Ensure an effective backup strategy is in place and verify its efficacy through regular tests and restores. • Implement and enforce best practices for security protocols to safeguard systems and data. • Document existing and new infrastructure deployments, procedures, configurations, and architecture diagrams. • Perform hardware upgrades, replacements, and lifecycle maintenance. • Guarantee an optimal level of OS-level security and feature patching. • Proactively research new and updated technologies as they become available and relevant to our environment. • Interface with customers, users, and external vendors as necessary. • Maintain up‑to‑date knowledge of relevant technologies through continuous learning.
Required Skills/ Abilities:
• Must have a current driver’s license and auto liability insurance. • Ability to travel, including overnight stays. • Strong organizational, multitasking, prioritization, and follow‑through skills with minimal supervision. • Ability to interpret technical documentation, scientific/technical journals, and regulatory materials. • Strong written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to present information to leadership and external groups. • Proficiency in mathematical concepts including percentages, proportions, and basic algebra/geometry. • Ability to troubleshoot complex problems with limited standardization and interpret written, oral, diagrammatic, or schedule‑based instructions. • Advanced technical proficiency with: • Windows Server, Active Directory, TCP/IP, DHCP, DNS • Virtualization platforms (VMware or similar) • Virtual Desktop Access (VDA) • Hyperconverged Infrastructure (HCI) • Storage Area Networks (iSCSI & FC) • Cloud platforms (Azure, Google Cloud, etc.)
• Ability to write scripts, batch files, and automated processes. • Working knowledge of Linux (Red Hat and Debian distributions). • VMware certification preferred.
Education/ Experience
• Bachelor’s degree in a related field; or • Three to five years of relevant experience; or • An equivalent combination of education and experience.
Physical Requirements
• Prolonged periods of sitting and computer work. • Frequent lifting/moving of up to 10 pounds; occasional lifting of up to 50 pounds. • Standard office hours with occasional weekends and holidays as needed. • Must be available to work an average of 40 hours per week or as required to meet business needs. • Regular, reliable attendance is required. • Work environment noise level is typically moderate.
