About this role
As an Internal Auditor, you will support Irving Oil’s Internal Audit team by contributing to audit activities that align with industry practices and professional standards. Your goal will be to apply internal audit methodologies while working collaboratively with cross-functional teams to identify risks, test controls, and support process improvements. Your success will be demonstrated through effective application of systematic audit approaches that contribute to safe, efficient, and reliable business operations.

Your Responsibilities:
• Support the development of audit work programs and assigned audit test procedures • Execute assigned audit tasks under the guidance of Senior Auditors to support engagement objectives, scope, and timelines • Perform audit work in accordance with professional standards while meeting quality and performance expectations • Assist with analysis using data analytics, benchmarks, and internal or external criteria to evaluate processes under review • Prepare and maintain audit documentation in alignment with the International Professional Practice Framework (IPPF) • Support the preparation of clear and concise audit reports and stakeholder updates • Assist with tracking and follow-up of Management Action Plans to support timely implementation • Participate in lessons learned discussions and contribute to team knowledge sharing • Build positive working relationships across the organization to support effective audits and continuous improvement
Your Skills:
• Detail-oriented professional with strong organizational and communication skills • Ability to learn quickly, follow direction, and work effectively in a team environment • Commitment to ethical conduct and adherence to the IIA Code of Ethics and Irving’s Code of Ethical Conduct • Motivated self-starter with problem-solving skills and an interest in proposing practical solutions • Strong time management skills with the ability to meet deadlines in a structured environment • Analytical and critical thinker with curiosity to understand processes and identify risks, control gaps, and improvement opportunities
Your Experience:
• Relevant post-secondary education is required (accounting, finance, business, commerce, etc.) • Professional designation as a CIA (Certified Internal Auditor) or interest in obtaining it • 3 or more years of relevant work experience • Experience executing risk, stakeholder and change management activities would be an asset
