About this role

Department/Location: Human Resources Division, Central Cambridge

As an HR Business Partner (HRBP) at the School of Clinical Medicine, you will proactively support managers across the full spectrum of HR. You will develop an in-depth understanding of your area and work in partnership with key stakeholders to advise on and implement people focused HR solutions, applying best practice to foster a positive workplace culture. We are looking for a skilled HR professional that has experience of case work, and a passion for building effective relationships and identifying opportunities for improvement.

We employ more than 13,000 staff, around 3000 of which are in the Clinical School, and this is a unique opportunity to work alongside a varied stakeholder base of Clinical, Research and Operations teams, within an environment like no other.

As well as working within the Clinical School HR Team and the wider HR Business Partner network, you will also have contact with HR experts across the University including those centrally specialising in policy, resourcing and learning and development. Key responsibilities include:

Partnering with departments to address challenges early, working with colleagues to implement effective solutions before escalation. Acting as a point of contact for managers, and departmental HR colleagues, providing advice and guidance on a range of HR issues. Coaching and developing managers and colleagues on effective people practices. Contributing to the identification and implementation of effective organisational change including restructure. Advising on and supporting complex employee relations cases. Advising on promotion and reward opportunities. Proactively identifying service improvements. Contributing to HR team projects to deliver HR initiatives. Possibility of line managing more Junior HR colleagues within the team

About you:

Significant experience in a generalist or specialist HR advisory role, including employment law, case management, and organisational change. Ability to advise and influence senior managers on HR issues. A positive, flexible approach to problem-solving. Strong relationship-building and communication skills. Excellent influencing and negotiation skills, with experience liaising with internal and external stakeholders. Strong analytical skills and the ability to produce and present clearly articulated, well structured, concise reports. Experience of project planning and delivery.
