We are looking for a talented individual who shares our values to join our team as an Accounting Assistant. This position reports to the Accountant.
THE ROLE:
The Accounting Assistant’s primary duties and responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
• Prepare reports used in the compilation of monthly Management Accounts. • Maintain fixed asset records, including asset additions and disposals. • Reconcile key Balance Sheet accounts on a monthly basis. • Perform monthly expenditure variance analyses by comparing actual expenditures to budgeted amounts, investigating significant variances, and reporting findings to management. • Perform daily bank reconciliations. • Prepare audit schedules as required. • Maintain Finished Goods and Work in Progress records. • Prepare and submit monthly VAT returns. • Ensure continuity of accounting operations by serving as the primary backup for Accounting Clerks and assuming responsibility for critical functions during staff absences.
QUALIFICATIONS/ SKILLS REQUIRED:
• Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting or Finance • At least three years of accounting experience. • Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Excel. • Demonstrates excellent analytical, interpersonal, communication and time management skills. • Computer literate with a working knowledge of accounting packages. • One to two years of auditing experience would be an asset.
