• Since February 2023 NPA MAD Ukraine has been operational with Non-Technical Survey (NTS) activities and from June 2023 with Technical Survey (TS) and clearance. • The programme has an ongoing need to conduct TS and clearance activities in line with NPA standard operating procedures and National Mine Action Standards. • The position of Manual Team Leader is primarily responsible for ensuring that all TS and clearance activities are conducted in accordance with the relevant policies applicable within the Ukraine, under supervision of the Manual Site Supervisor and TFM. • The position is based in Mykolaiv.

Tasks and Responsibilities:

• Comply with all NPA policies, regulations, and procedures.

• Take full responsibility for the assigned team, including: • Planning daily and weekly team deployments. • Ensuring all deminers properly maintain their tools and equipment. • Assigning work areas and equipment to each deminer.

• Supervise the team to ensure efficient and effective operations, including: • Halting all work if critical issues arise. • Setting up testing areas for detectors and ensuring proper testing and calibration according to specifications and SOPs.

• Execute and oversee tasks as directed by the Operations Manager, Senior Technical Field Manager (STFM), or Technical Field Manager (TFM). • Maintain accountability for all assigned equipment, ensuring regular maintenance and serviceability. • Ensure safe working conditions at all times by: • Enforcing appropriate working distances and safety protocols. • Maintaining clear and accurate site markings. • Ensuring proper use of PPE by all team members and visitors. • Overseeing team operations in a safe and efficient manner.

• Complete all required team administration before reporting to the Technical Field Manager. • Keep the team informed about task-related plans and safety considerations. • Uphold team discipline in accordance with organizational policies. • Manage the quality of the team’s daily activities, including: • Conducting daily quality control (QC) in line with requirements. • Assisting Quality Management (QM) teams during site visits.

• Fully understand and adhere to the SOP and Implementation Plan. • Ensure team vehicles are well-maintained and promptly report any faults or damages. • Familiarize yourself with all relevant SOPs and know how to reference them to clarify technical or safety-related concerns. Competence and qualifications: Required:

• Understanding of the land release concept and the demining toolbox, NPA SOPs, IMAS and National Mine Action Standards. • Successful completion of Basic Demining/BAC Course. • Successful completion of Manual Team Leader Course • Driving Licence (Manual) • Competent in the use of MS Office: Excel, Word, Outlook, PowerPoint, GIS, and data collection software

Desirable:

• IMAS EOD level 2/3. • Written and spoken English. • Medical first aid training/qualifications.

Personal Competencies:

• Good cultural, networking and interpersonal skills. • Good leadership and communication skills are required along with the ability to motivate staff in a calm and professional manner with limited supervision. • Excellent organizational skills with the ability to plan and coordinate activities often within tight deadlines in a harsh environment. • Ability and willingness to work and live under stressful and hazardous conditions.
