About this role
We are seeking a highly skilled and precision-driven Welder to join our customer-focused manufacturing and repair operations. In this role, you will be an integral part of a collaborative team, working side-by-side with machinists and assemblers to solve challenging mechanical problems and maintain rigorous production schedules. This is a fast-paced environment that demands excellent technical understanding, deep attention to detail, and a commitment to quality workmanship. You will look over technical blueprints, plan component layouts, and execute high-integrity welds across multiple methodologies (MIG, MAG, TIG, Stick) to repair and manufacture heavy industrial equipment.
Core Responsibilities
• Multi-Process Welding Execution: Set up, calibrate, and execute multi-position welds utilizing TIG, MIG, MAG, and Stick/electrode welding methods according to precise operational instructions. • Blueprint Reading & Interpretation: Plan, lay out, and configure workflows directly from engineering schematics, technical drawings, and manufacturers' specification sheets using shop math and precision measuring instruments. • Component Preparation & Assembly: Properly identify raw industrial materials, execute required component preparation, and utilize conventional shop lathes to prep parts safely before assembly and production welding. • Manufacturing & Repair Operations: Execute high-quality welding installations on new equipment from scratch, and carry out precision structural welding repairs on raw and finished parts. • Quality Assurance Auditing: Verify the quality of finished fabrications, demonstrating an in-depth understanding of strict tolerances, dimensional specifications, and workmanship standards. • Post-Weld Heat Operations: Carry out post-weld heat treatment operations cleanly and accurately based on explicit process documents and heat treatment instructions. • Team-Based Problem Solving: Actively collaborate with assemblers and machinists to troubleshoot process flows, correct equipment problems, and design fast solutions for chronic component repairs. • Data Log Control: Record accurate, timely data on computer-based tracking systems or manual logs to maintain a clean flow of parts, materials, and repair documentation. • Workplace Safety & Organization: Maintain a safe, pristine workspace by following all protection rules, wearing required protective gear, completing safety training, and conducting routine tool maintenance.
Required Qualifications & Experience
• Education: High School Diploma or GED. • Experience Baseline: 5 to 7 years of professional welding experience derived from a mechanical manufacturing or heavy industrial repair environment. • Professional Credentials: Valid, current Welder Certificate. • Technical Mastery: Proven background in multi-process welding (TIG, MIG, MAG, Stick), shop math, layout planning, and structural component troubleshooting. • Physical Stamina: Ability to stand for extended periods, perform repetitive arm motions, and frequently lift and carry components weighing up to 50 pounds. • Reliability: A demonstrated track record of dependable attendance and the flexibility to adjust schedules for emergency plant workflows on short notice.
Preferred Skills & Attributes
• Valve Industry Domain: Prior welding and repair experience specifically within the valve or flow control industry. • NDE Certifications: Active PT (Penetrant Testing) and MT (Magnetic Particle Testing) related certifications are highly preferred. • Thermal Conditioning: Advanced post-weld heat treatment (PWHT) field experience. • Enterprise ERP Software: Basic navigational knowledge of SAP tracking systems. • Mindset: Strong team spirit, personal initiative, and a customer-service mindset focused on ensuring zero scrap and on-time delivery.
