Get to Know the Role
We are looking for an experienced Engineering Manager II to lead and build our Malaysia engineering team. You will establish the Insurance Operations PST, driving technical delivery for Insurance products, and taking over operational support functions. You will collaborate closely with the local Operations team and coordinate with regional engineering teams.
You'll be reporting to our Senior Engineering Manager and working onsite at our Petaling Jaya office.
The Critical Tasks You Will Perform
You will lead the establishment and growth of a 7-10 person engineering team in MalaysiaYou will own Insurance technical delivery, ensuring compliance with BNM regulatory requirementsYou will oversee third-party system integrations (ISM, APAD, JPJ) and BNM regulatory reportingYou will coordinate service transitions from ID/SG teams to the MY teamYou will build local engineering culture with emphasis on operational excellenceYou will collaborate with Insurance Operations team to deliver feature improvementsYou will develop and manage project timelines, budgets, and resourcesYou will implement best practices in software development, testing, and deploymentYou will participate in strategic planning and cross-regional decision-making What Essential Skills You Will Need
Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field7+ years of professional experience in software engineering, with strong coding skills in Java/Go and React3+ years managing teams of 5 or more engineers, with demonstrated success in coaching and developing individualsExperience in building and scaling engineering teams from the ground upDeep understanding of scalable architectures, microservices, and cloud platforms (AWS)Experience with regulatory/compliance-driven projects would be an added advantageStrong communication skills with ability to collaborate across cultures and regionsExperience working with global teams on cross-regional projects Life at Grab
