About this role
As a Thermal Engineer – CFD, you will join the team in Luton to support our activities within the aerospace sector.
You will support the development and optimisation of cooling system designs for aircraft electrical power generators and electrical motors. Using advanced thermo-fluid modelling and simulation tools, you will analyse thermal performance and contribute to the design and selection of cooling components for both new and existing products.

Conduct CFD and thermal modelling to predict the thermal performance of electrical machines and systemsSupport the design and optimisation of cooling systems for aircraft electrical generators and motorsPerform thermo-fluid analysis using appropriate simulation tools to support engineering programmesProduce technical reports and analysis summaries to support design reviews and programme milestonesProvide thermal analysis input for new product development, RFIs, and proposalsCollaborate with design engineers and programme teams to support engineering decisions and product performanceSupport multiple projects while ensuring analysis and deliverables are completed within agreed timelines Required Skills:
Strong understanding of thermodynamics and fluid dynamics principlesExperience performing CFD and thermal analysis within engineering environmentsCompetent in ANSYS simulation tools including Workbench and FluentAbility to interpret engineering requirements and translate them into simulation models and analysisExperience producing technical documentation and presenting results to engineering teamsRequired Qualifications:
A Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Engineering, or equivalent military experience.Experience using ANSYS tools such as Fluent, Workbench, SpaceClaim, or DiscoveryDesirable Skills:
Experience using Motor-CAD or similar electrical machine thermal modelling toolsExperience performing thermo-fluid simulation for rotating electrical machinesExperience within aerospace or electrical propulsion systemsAbility to perform first principle calculations or 1D thermal modelling to validate simulation results Why join us?
