Job Profile Summary: Performs routine accounting auditing duties. Ensure the accurate recording and reporting of a unit's financial transactions. Job Description: Facilities Development and Management Business Operations seeks an Accountant to perform a broad scope of professional accounting activities requiring experienced, professional knowledge and application of accounting principles and practices. Performs a wide range of detailed/complex accounting and advisory functions pertaining to assigned fund area, accounts or department and assures day-to-day operations are carried out in accordance with established accounting principles, policies and objectives.
Essential Duties
• Prepare on-line requisitions. • Process payments. • Maintain detailed records. • Process on-line purchases using departmental purchasing cards. • Create aging reports to track outstanding purchase orders to outside vendors. • Reconcile financial accounts. • Perform detailed cost and financial analysis, forecasts, and projections. • Prepare various accounting and journal entries to manage departmental budgets. • Approve transactions within designated limits. • Monitor compliance with generally accepted accounting principles and university policies. • Answer policy, budget, and procedure questions from department staff, university staff, and customers. • Maintain professional accounting body of knowledge by attending professional development training as assigned. • Perform all of the financial duties mentioned in the ASU financial system, Workday. • Use ability to clearly communicate to perform essential functions. • Other duties as assigned.
DAYS AND SCHEDULE: Monday-Friday; 8:00AM-5:00PM SALARY RANGE: $54,000 - $56,000
Desired Qualifications Experience in:
• ASU employee experience preferred • Fund/government accounting • Preparing detailed reconciliations • Preparing expense tracking reports • Utilizing an on-line financial system (i.e., Workday, etc.) • Utilizing an on-line work order system (i.e., TMA, etc.) • Extracting and refining large amounts of financial information from a financial management system. • Procurement of goods and services • Procurement card purchasing • Voyager Fuel Card management with Fuel Card System entry and support. • Fiscal year-end procedures • Customer service skills • Microsoft Office applications (i.e., Excel, Word, Outlook, etc.)
Demonstrated knowledge of:
• Procurement Card policies, procedures, and reconciliation • Accounting principles, theory and practices including governmental accounting
Evidence of effective communication skills. Evidence of a Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or Business Administration. Working Environment
• Activities are performed in an environmentally controlled office setting subject to extended periods of sitting, keyboarding and manipulating a computer mouse. Required to stand/sit for varying lengths of time and travel moderate distances to perform work. Regular use of standard office equipment including, but not limited to: computer workstation/laptop (keyboard, monitor, mouse), printer, fax, calculator, copier, telephone and associated computer/technology peripherals.
