About this role
Amazon LEO is an initiative to increase global broadband access through a constellation of 3,236 satellites in low Earth orbit (LEO). Its mission is to bring fast, affordable broadband to unserved and underserved communities around the world. Amazon LEO will help close the digital divide by delivering fast, affordable broadband to a wide range of customers, including consumers, businesses, government agencies, and other organizations operating in places without reliable connectivity. We're seeking an exceptional Software Quality Engineering Manager who will drive innovation and excellence in aviation terminal software development. In this pivotal role, you'll be the strategic architect of software quality management, solving complex technical challenges and ensuring software development rigor that meets the highest aviation standards, including compliance with AS9115 (Quality Management Systems – Requirements for Aviation, Space and Defense Organizations – Deliverable Software). You will be directly responsible for establishing and maintaining the software quality assurance framework governing the design, development, verification, and deployment of deliverable software for the aircraft unit, phased array based antenna system that closes the link to carry aircraft data to and from a LEO satellite. This includes overseeing software development lifecycle processes, configuration management, formal verification and validation (V&V), and ensuring traceability from requirements through testing in accordance with AS9115 and its parent standard AS9100. You may also be responsible for software quality oversight supporting the aircraft certification of embedded software and systems modifications needed to install and operate the antenna system, ensuring compliance with requirements approved by the certifying authority (FAA/EASA) commonly referred to as the Supplemental Type Certificate (STC). This includes managing software change control processes, independent verification and validation (IV&V) activities, and ensuring all deliverable software meets the stringent documentation, review, and quality assurance requirements mandated by AS9115 for the aviation, space, and defense industry.
