Role Description
The Technical Project Manager (TPM) is responsible for defining, planning, and executing cloud migration programs while ensuring alignment with business and technology objectives. The TPM leads governance, stakeholder coordination, and delivery oversight across complex migration initiatives.
Roles & Responsibilities
1. Program Strategy and Planning
Define cloud migration roadmap, phases, and delivery approach Translate business objectives into a structured migration program plan Coordinate with enterprise architects and cloud teams to determine:
Migration waves
Application grouping
Hosting strategy
Rehosting, Refactoring, Replatforming, Retiring decisions Establish program scope, timelines, milestones, and dependencies Build and maintain an integrated program plan covering applications, infrastructure, security, testing, cutover, and support Identify critical path items and mitigation plans
2. Stakeholder Management
Act as the single point of coordination across business, technology, security, infrastructure, and operations teams Facilitate governance forums, steering committees, and status meetings Communicate migration objectives, risks, impacts, timelines, and decisions Align cross-functional teams on priorities, scope changes, and cutover readiness Manage expectations of executives, program sponsors, and application owners
3. Migration Governance and Delivery Oversight Set up governance structures for:
Weekly status reviews
RAID reviews
Architecture checkpoints
Change approvals
Go-live readiness reviews
Track program execution against milestones and delivery commitments Monitor progress across all migration workstreams Proactively manage issues, blockers, and interdependencies Escalate critical risks or delays with recommended actions Ensure adherence to project management standards and SDLC / DevOps practices
4. Technical Coordination
Work closely with:
Cloud architects
Infrastructure teams
Security teams
Application development teams
Network teams
