About this role

We are seeking a skilled General Machinist to join our client's team. Under the supervision of the APC Supervisor, the position performs a variety of operation functions. These duties include manufacturing/machining of high temperature rollers, endless belting, and fabrication/construction. The remaining points are inserted under the duties and responsibilities section. Qualifications: Education Essential: Completion of High School. Completion of post-secondary education in machining, is an asset. Knowledge Essential: Hands on experience working with machine tools or mechanical assembly. Proficient in math. Proficient in computers and working within ERP systems. Working knowledge of health and safety protocols when operating lathes and milling machinery. Skills and Abilities Essential: Excellent coordination and mechanical skills, with strong attention to detail and accuracy. Ability to work independently as well as cohesively with employees and supervisors as part of a team. Excellent problem-solving skills to resolve conflicts and problems. Detail oriented and excellent organizational and multi-tasking skills. Ability to work efficiently and effectively under pressure with simultaneous deadlines. Major Duties and Responsibilities: 1. Setting up and operating all the equipment in the maintenance/fabrication shop. 2. Reading and interpreting blueprints and CAD drawings for parts production. 3. Checking quality and accuracy of parts manufactured using measurement devices (micrometer, etc.). 4. Minor maintenance to machinery when required. 5. Fit and assemble machined parts into complete units. 6. Apply knowledge of machine shop theory & procedures, shop mathematics, machine ability of materials and layout techniques, using hand and power tools. 7. Compute dimensions and tolerances and measure and lay out work pieces 8. Set-up and operate machine on trial run to verify accuracy of machine setting or programmed control data. 9. Report deviations from specifications and tolerances to supervisor. 10. Responsible for tracking and coordinating inventory for the fabricating department. 11. Prepare back up responsibilities in other areas of the department, as required. 12. Sets-up and organizes individual work area with designated supplies, forms and resources materials while always maintaining cleanliness. Mental Effort Required to Perform the Job: Continuously analyzing and interpreting CAD Drawings Continuous mental effort is required in multi-tasking and handling interruptions that require constant refocusing. Physical Effort Required to Perform the Job: Continuously lifting different types of steel Continuously setting up the machinery to make endless belts and specialty products Continuously standing and bending all day while constructing rollers Must be able to move and pick up 50 lbs by self Must be able to move and pick up 51 to 79 lbs with assistance Over 80 lbs must request and obtain assistance Responsibility for Resources: Responsible for work area Responsible for the inventory of all supplies Responsible for all tools and machinery Responsibility for Decision Making: Determines inconsistencies with CAD drawings and reports same to the Field and Market Development Manager and the Purchasing Manager Working Conditions: Continuously working in hot conditions Continuously working with a high level of noise Continuously working with metals and lubricant Apply Today! &
