RQ11128 - Sr. Technology Architect 11-month contract (207 business days) - possible extension ONSITE 5 days - Toronto Must Have: • Demonstrated a minimum of 10+ years' experience in Mainframe Performance/Capacity Management roles. • Experience with interactive capacity management tools including MICS, RMF and other ISV tools. • Strong understanding and can demonstrate experience working with SMF data. • Performed capacity requirement assessments for CPU upgrades and refreshes including the ability to perform 'what-if' impact models. • Past experience reconciling mainframe billing for ISV workloads. • Experience performing complex calculations to estimate workload impacts in terms of MIPS and/or MSUs across a multi-partitioned environment. • Understand zIIP utilization. • Experience with SAS Programming. • Ability to proactively identify CPU cost-savings opportunities. • A firm understanding of IBM Mainframe CPU concepts including CBUs and CoD, and you can configure mainframe tools such as MICS, RMF to build reports and view data from these tools. Deliverables: The Resource will act as subject matter experts on a variety of Mainframe performance and capacity analysis and reporting activities such as: Enabling and supporting the day to day operations of the Government of Ontario's Mainframe performance and capacity disciplines to maintain KTLO activities and project work relating to the planning, installation, maintenance, upgrades of software products in support for post GDC Mainframe migration activities as well as the most recent Mainframe acquisition for Disaster recovery at our CO-LO site. Key Responsibilities: This position will provide Performance and Capacity Operational Support for sustaining the day to day operations of Mainframe Software and program products. In this role you will provide expertise to review and analyze mainframe resource and capacity data to ensure the most effective use of computing infrastructure and IMS/DB2 subsystems, author and update capacity plans for the mainframe platform, provide project input into mainframe refresh initiatives, and upgrades, provide support for mainframe vendor billing and inquiries from application teams. You will also be responsible for preparing mainframe capacity assessments to application development and infrastructure teams for project related workload changes. 2. Provide and document incident analysis, resolution, and prevention, designing procedures and best practice techniques, using IBM and ISV online tools for opening and managing incident report tracking and resolution. You will participate in Mainframe DR Hardware installation project activities along with actively participating in periodic disaster recovery exercises, maintaining disaster recovery readiness of systems, and monitoring status of systems to proactively prevent incidents. 3. Plan, configure and support installation of new Mainframe hardware platform 4.
