Timberland Homes is a custom home builder in the Windsor and LaSalle area. We design and build high quality custom homes, and every project depends on strong material and design direction from the ground up. We are looking for an in-house Interior Designer to own the design side of our builds and work closely with our team from concept through completion.
*About the Role*
This is a Designer role, not a Decorator role. You will own material specifications, hard surface selections, and the architectural side of our custom homes, rather than furnishings and soft surfaces alone. The responsibility level is high and the work is technical, exactly what a custom build demands.
We use AI to work faster, not to replace the craft. Creativity stays human. AI handles the math, the repetitive prep, and the early client visualizations so you can spend your time on design and on getting selections right.
*What You Will Do*
* Lead the design and material direction of custom home projects from consultation through completion * Make hard surface and material selections, the technical, high responsibility choices that define each home * Handle quoting and estimating: quantities, square footage, material takeoffs, and yardage and fabric calculations for custom pieces * Work alongside the builder and trades to keep selections on scope, on budget, and on schedule * Use AI tools to speed up estimating, quote prep, client follow ups, and consultation deliverables * Produce quick visual concepts during the sales and consultation process to help clients picture the finished home without burning hours on prospects who may not commit * Work inside a project management and client dashboard platform with AI integrated directly into the workflow
*What We Are Looking For*
* Formal interior design schooling, since this is a designer role and background matters * Strong grasp of the architectural and materials side of residential construction, not just aesthetics * Experience with, or genuine interest in, custom home building and renovation * Genuine day to day fluency with AI tools, beyond surface level curiosity * Ability to prompt AI well and integrate it into a real design workflow * Comfort using AI for calculations and prep while keeping full creative control * Entry level through roughly five years of experience

Pay: $22.00-$30.00 per hour
