About this role

The Ministry of Social Services is seeking Child Protection Workers to join its Swift Current team. This permanent full-time opportunity supports vulnerable children and families through protective, preventative, and family support services under The Child and Family Services Act and Adoption Act. The ministry is looking for compassionate, adaptable, collaborative individuals committed to improving the wellbeing of children and families while delivering client-focused public service. The ideal candidate demonstrates accountability, sound judgment, strong interpersonal skills, inclusiveness, and a commitment to continuous learning. They must be able to work effectively with children, families, foster parents, community partners, and Indigenous organizations in complex and sensitive situations. Candidates must possess a Bachelor of Social Work or Bachelor of Indigenous Social Work from an accredited university. Knowledge of child protection practices, risk assessment, family dynamics, poverty, systemic barriers, multicultural perspectives, and First Nations and Mtis cultures is required. Strong communication, critical thinking, documentation, decision-making, advocacy, and organizational skills are essential. The role requires travel, flexible hours, transporting children and families, and the ability to lift up to 20 kg. Responsibilities include investigating allegations of abuse or neglect, assessing child safety risks, developing intervention plans, managing children in care, coordinating services, supporting court processes, advocating for clients, and maintaining professional documentation.
