Permanent Full-Time Maintenance WorkerNakile Home for Special Care prides itself in offering a friendly, bright, home-like atmosphere to seniors in Argyle and the surrounding areas since 1989. We are a 48-bed facility, and we are fully licensed by the province of Nova Scotia. Nakile maintains a reputation as one of the finest long-term care facilities in Western Nova Scotia. At Nakile we promote a home-like atmosphere, and we strive to meet the individual needs of the people who live here.Hours of WorkPermanent Full-Time, 80 hours bi-weekly, (hours would include weekdays, weekends, holidays and occasional evening and night shifts as well as on-call 24/7)ResponsibilitiesThe Maintenance team reports to the Department Director. This position plays an important role in supporting the many aspects of maintaining our home. This role requires an individual who is focused on continuous quality improvement and possesses an understanding of many skills including, but not limited to carpentry, plumbing, electrical and mechanical. The ideal candidate can troubleshoot to resolve minor maintenance issues throughout the home. The ability to lead, maintain a positive attitude, and assist in problem solving through change will be a key to success in this role. Strong interpersonal and communication skills, along with organization and attention to detail are a requirement. Duties will be performed in accordance with the Mission, Vision, Standards, Policies and Procedures of NHSC.Qualifications:Leadership abilities/experience and be willing to attend training to further skills as requiredFacilitation skills or willingness to build upon them (participate in meetings/huddles/training)Demonstrated a philosophy of Person (resident) Centered CareAbility to positively motivate others while modelling professional behaviorWork well with, and be excited by, positive change (you are open minded and adaptable)Working understanding of all programs and functions of mechanical, plumbing, BAS, HVAC, physical requirements, general maintenance, landscaping, monitoring daily/weekly/monthly preventive maintenance programs.Basic computer skills (Outlook, Word, Excel, Internet)Strong communicator (verbal and written)Valid driver's license with clear driver's abstractAbility to effectively manage your time, prioritize, and multitaskFlexible schedule.
