Education: Other trades certificate or diploma. or equivalent experience. Work setting: Aviation/aerospace manufacturing. Aviation/aerospace repair and overhaul. General manufacturing. Tasks: Compute dimensions and tolerances of machine parts. Measure and lay out work pieces in preparation for assembly. Read and interpret engineering drawings, blueprints, charts and tables. Repair machine tools and parts. Set up and adjust production machineries/tools. Fit and assemble components and machine parts to close tolerance. Document and report deviations from specifications and tolerances. Maintain inspection records and complete inspection reports. Verify dimensions of parts machined using precise measuring instruments (e.g., micrometers, calipers). Set up and operate conventional and computer controlled machine tools. Verify dimensions of products for accuracy and conformance to specifications using precision measuring instruments. Assemble, install and set-up merchandise/products. Certificates, licences, memberships, and courses : Machinist Trade Certification. Tool and Die Maker Trade Certification. Machinist Red Seal Endorsment. Tool and Die Maker Red Seal Certificate. Measuring tools: Micrometers. Callipers. Calibre. Gauges. Verniers. Computer and technology knowledge: Mastercam CAD/CAM. Equipment and machinery experience: Cylindrical grinders. Electrical discharge machine (EDM). Engine lathes. Gear cutting machine. Milling machines. Single purpose production machine. Surface grinders. Tool grinders. Universal grinders. Use computer numerical control (CNC) machines. Computer-aided design (CAD). Equipment, eystems and controls experience: Electric drive. Electric motors. NC and CNC systems.
