Harvey Group Practice is a friendly, forward-thinking GP practice serving patients across our two sites in St Albans. We pride ourselves on providing high-quality, patient-centred care while creating a supportive and inclusive working environment for our staff.

As we continue to develop our nursing services, we are looking for an enthusiastic and compassionate Practice Nurse to join our team.
This is a varied and rewarding role where no two days are the same. Working alongside our experienced nursing team and GPs, you will provide high-quality evidence-based care while managing your own clinics and supporting patients with both acute and long-term healthcare needs.
The successful candidate will be confident working independently, committed to delivering excellent patient care and passionate about promoting health and wellbeing.

Job PurposeThe Practice Nurse will provide high-quality, evidence-based nursing care to the practice population while promoting health, preventing disease and supporting patients to manage long-term conditions.
Working as part of the multidisciplinary team, the post holder will deliver a range of clinical services, contribute to achieving Quality and Outcomes Framework (QOF) and Enhanced Service requirements, and support the continued development of high-quality patient services across Harvey Group Practice.
Main Duties and ResponsibilitiesClinical ResponsibilitiesThe post holder will:
Deliver safe, effective and compassionate nursing care to patients within their scope of practice.
Undertake holistic patient assessments and develop appropriate care plans.
Provide treatment room services including:
Wound care and dressings
Removal of sutures and clips
Ear irrigation (where trained)
ECG recording
Blood pressure monitoring
Spirometry (where trained)
Administer prescribed injections and medications in accordance with Patient Specific Directions (PSDs), Patient Group Directions (PGDs) and practice protocols.
Deliver childhood and adult immunisations in accordance with national guidance.
Provide travel vaccinations and travel health advice where appropriately trained.
Undertake cervical screening in accordance with national screening standards.
Perform NHS Health Checks.
Deliver health promotion and lifestyle advice including smoking cessation, weight management and cardiovascular risk reduction.
Support patients with long-term conditions including diabetes, asthma, COPD, hypertension and cardiovascular disease (dependent upon competency and training).
Monitor patients and identify any deterioration requiring escalation to a GP or other clinician.
Ensure accurate documentation within EMIS Web.
Chronic Disease ManagementWhere appropriately trained, the post holder will:
Manage long-term condition clinics.
Monitor disease progression.
Undertake annual reviews.
Support medication monitoring.
Educate patients to encourage self-management.
Participate in recall systems and QOF achievement.
Patient CareThe Practice Nurse will:
Deliver person-centred care that respects dignity, diversity and individual choice.
Provide health education to patients and carers.
Support patients to make informed healthcare decisions.
Maintain confidentiality at all times.
Act as an advocate for patients where appropriate.
Infection Prevention and ControlThe post holder will:
Adhere to infection prevention and control policies.
Ensure clinical rooms are maintained to required standards.
Manage clinical waste safely.
Participate in infection control audits.
Report incidents and risks appropriately.
Medicines ManagementThe Practice Nurse will:
Administer medicines safely within competence.
Ensure vaccine cold chain compliance.
Monitor emergency equipment and drug expiry dates.
Maintain accurate stock records where appropriate.
Quality ImprovementThe post holder will:
Participate in clinical audits.
Support Quality Improvement initiatives.
