About this role

Job summary

We have an opportunity for you to join the Greater Manchester Assessment and In-reach Team or GMAIC, as it's often referred to. This is newly created post in a team manager role.

Working closely with the Clinical staff, you will play a key leadership role in ensuring high-quality, patient-centred care, supporting individuals with complex mental health needs in the community.

This is an exciting opportunity to make a real difference by driving service excellence, fostering strong partnerships, and supporting a multidisciplinary team to deliver outstanding outcomes.

You will be enthusiastic, demonstrate a proactive approach to their work, engage in learning and development and be passionate about working within crisis care. The assessment centre is committed to supporting the successful individual within a robust development framework and will offer appropriate support and regular supervision.

GMAIC'srole is to offer gatekeeping assessments, bed management and case management to any CYP, who may require a Tier 4 Inpatient admission. We work in collaboration with our NHS inpatient providers, for any Tier 4 referral/request for an Inpatient admission.

Main duties of the job

You will have the opportunity to make profound improvements in how crisis care is experienced by young people and those who care for them.

You will be working closely with our inpatient colleagues and have responsibility of managing theSingle Point of Accessfor all Inpatient referrals for the GM population of 13-18 year old young people who are being considered for inpatient care.

You will also have the opportunity to work closely with external services such as social care, CAMHS, FCAMHS, CMHT, CEDS, EIT, HTT to ensure the correct pathways are in place, to support our CYP's discharge from hospital.

We have seen already how we have positively impacted in ensuring that our young people are being supported within local services, and with the help of our colleagues within the Crisis Pathway reducing the dependency on inpatient care, meaning young people are getting supported at home, in a timely manner.

Person Specification

Education / Qualifications Essential

Professionally registered qualification with current registration with NMC, Social Work England or HCPC Educated to degree level or equivalent

Desirable

Completion of Preparation for Mentorship / Practice Teacher / Fieldwork Educator qualification. Management or leadership qualification, or training for supervision and staff development.

Experience Essential

Substantial experience of working within a health delivered child and adolescent mental health service or adult mental health services Experience in the provision of clinical and line management supervision and annual appraisal

Knowledge Essential

Highly developed knowledge of mental health issues in children and young people Knowledge of relevant legislation and National Policies in relation to children and young people Highly developed knowledge of a range of therapeutic interventions with this client group Working knowledge of NICE guidance in the treatment of mental health problems for children and young people Knowledge of risk management issues

Desirable

Knowledge and experience of working with young people with learning disability Evidence of Post qualifying training courses/ certificates

Skills and Abilities Essential

Evidence of the ability to lead, motivate and manage a group Ability to manage own emotions and deal with others in highly charged situations Experience of governance processes, including responding to complaints and completing investigations following incidents. Ability to manage the performance of staff in a consistent and sensitive manner. Ability to produce written reports that are clear, unambiguous and produced with agreed timescales. Ability to perform complex assessments as an autonomous practitioner across a range of mental health conditions. Ability to develop packages of care based on assessed needs. Ability to develop a range of therapeutic activities across a range of settings. Ability to identify and manage risk in individuals presenting with mental health needs. Ability to provide and receive complex sensitive or contentious information often within a hostile, antagonistic or highly emotive atmosphere. Ability to act in consultation/ Supervision/ training capacity with professionals. Ability to develop liaison/links and familiarity with other professional networks. Ability to prioritise key tasks, and targets for intervention. Ability to evaluate service initiatives for effectiveness/ outcome. Ability to work as a member of a team within and beyond organisational boundaries. Ability to keep accurate activity data for audit/evaluation. Ability to manage other staff to meet targets and objectives of the service Ability to implement HR procedures as appropriate Ability to use systems approach. Ability to provide leadership for the service Ability to work in situations that are often highly emotionally charged and were individuals may be antagonistic/ aggressive.
