Due to an internal promotion, an exciting opportunity has arisen to join the Financial Services Team based at Macclesfield District General Hospital. This role is part of the well-established Finance & Procurement Department. We pride ourselves on our financial standards and commitment to continuous staff development.

Hours per week: 37.5

Main duties of the job

We are looking for a highly motivated, confident and flexible individual looking to develop their career in NHS finance. The post holder will provide high calibre financial support to the Trust's financial services team. This is a key role in supporting the regular day to day and monthly processes carried out by the department, and in the development of the Trust's financial systems and processes, including the provision of a cashiers service within the Trust.

Applicants should be highly numerate, a strong communicator and in particular able to communicate with staff, other NHS bodies, shared service provision, suppliers, debtors and the general public as required. Be an interactive team player, able to complete accurate reconciliations and capable of prioritising workload effectively.

Candidates must possess excellent IT skills and be willing to work individually and as part of a team. The successful applicant must be able to demonstrate a willingness to learn and develop personally and professionally. We expect candidates to be passionate, flexible and hard-working, seizing this opportunity to develop knowledge and skills within the operation of an NHS provider Trust. An understanding of credit control would be beneficial but not essential.

Person Specification

Qualifications Essential

Good general education to A level / NVQ 3 (National Vocational Qualifications) standard or qualified to AAT (Associate of Accounting Technician) intermediate level GCSEs or equivalent in English and Mathematics

Desirable

Educated to degree level Working towards AAT technician or CCAB (Consultative Committee of Accountancy Bodies) financial qualification European Computer Driving License

Skills, Knowledge & Understanding Essential

Keyboard and IT skills Competent in the use of Excel to intermediate level Effective presentation of financial information Good written and excellent verbal communication skills with the ability to interact with staff at all levels Ability to clearly explain complex information including underlying financial principles The ability to analyse written and financial information highlighting variances and trends

Desirable

Knowledge of Access, Word and other MS office applications Awareness of current NHS issues

Experience Essential

Experience of work in a busy team based environment Demonstration of ability to plan and manage own workload to meet deadlines
