Looking to kick-start a career in electrical engineering while making a real difference? West Suffolk NHS Foundation Trust is recruiting an Apprentice Estates Craftsperson (Electrical) to join our Estates team.
You'll work towards a Level 3 Installation and Engineering apprenticeship, gaining hands-on experience maintaining and repairing vital electrical systems across Trust sites -- all while supporting safe, high-quality patient care.
What you'll be doing Learn fault finding, maintenance and installation of electrical systems Support planned and reactive maintenance across Trust sites Work safely to HTM 06 and BS7671 Wiring Regulations Carry out electrical testing, inspections and basic commissioning Use hand tools, power tools and workshop equipment Work with Estates colleagues and clinical teams Take part in on-call and out-of-hours work (after training) What we're looking for GCSE Maths A*-C / 4-9 (or equivalent Level 2) Willing to complete a Level 3 Electrical/Engineering apprenticeship Enthusiastic, reliable and keen to learn Good communication and teamwork skills Flexible approach to working hours Comfortable working at height and in confined spaces

Main duties of the job
Apprentice Responsibilities
Attend all off-the-job training components of the apprenticeship as agreed with your manager and apprenticeship training provider.
Proactively engage in the on-the-job activities in the workplace to become competent in the apprenticeship standard and role.
Complete all apprenticeship course work, assessments and self-directed study in a timely way as agreed with your workplace supervisor and the apprenticeship training provider.
Undertake all statutory and mandatory training required for the job role. This will be in addition to the apprenticeship training requirements

Person Specification
Education & Qualifications Essential
GCSE Maths grade A* -C / 4 - 9 or equivalent level 2 qualification in maths Willing to enrol and complete a Level 3 Installation and Engineering apprenticeship course
Desirable
GCSE English grade A* -C / 4 - 9 or equivalent level 2 qualification in English Ability to travel independently to all rural locations to carry out the post
Experience & Knowledge Essential
Experience in working to deadlines and achieving agreed objectives
Desirable
Work experience in the NHS or similar healthcare environment
Skills & Ability Essential
Good organisational skills Effective communication skills for effective working relationships throughout the organisation Ability to work on own initiative and as part of a team. Basic IT skills
