About this role

Salary: Full time starting salary is normally in the range £27,546 to £29,171, with potential progression once in post to £32,595

Role Summary

Support the training of future healthcare professionals at the University of Birmingham.

You will provide hands on technical support within our clinical skills and simulation facilities. You will prepare realistic teaching environments. You will maintain and troubleshoot patient simulators and clinical equipment. You will ensure every session runs safely and efficiently.

This role sits within the College Infrastructure and Facilities team. In 2027, our facilities will move to the new Birmingham Centre for Anatomy, Surgical and Clinical Skills at the Birmingham Health Innovation Campus. You will help support this transition and the development of our new space.

Main Duties

Your responsibilities will include:

Setting up and turning around daily simulation and skills sessions. Preparing simulated fluids and clinical equipment accurately. Testing, calibrating and maintaining patient simulators. Resolving in class technical issues. Managing consumables and stock levels. Supporting health and safety compliance.

Person specification

You will need:

A Level 3 qualification or equivalent relevant experience. GCSE English and Maths at Level 2 or above. Experience in a laboratory, clinical, simulation or teaching support environment. Strong organisational skills and attention to detail. A proactive approach to health and safety. Good IT skills.

This is an active, practical role where your work directly supports Nursing, Pharmacy, Midwifery and postgraduate clinical programmes.
