Herzig Eye Institute is a state-of-the-art facility specializing in cataract and refractive procedures in Ottawa, Canada. We are presently seeking an energetic, highly motivated individual to fill the position of ophthalmic technician in our surgery centre.
The successful candidate must have a desire to help enrich the patient experience from the first point of contact, through the procedure itself and to the final post-operative examination. They must also have excellent communication skills and the ability to multi-task in a fast-paced environment.
The ideal candidate will be an International Medical Graduate (IMG) or a COMT.
*Required Skills / Aptitudes*
Must display good judgement, organizational ability, attention to detail and professionalism.
Bilingual French/English an asset.
Must be Comfortable working with EMR.
Must have an understanding of medical terminology, anatomy and physiology, diagnostic procedures, pharmacology, and treatment options.
Previous experience working in a medical office, preferably in ophthalmology.
*Responsibilities*
Patient work up including visual acuity, manifest refraction and patient education
Perform advanced diagnostic testing including but not limited to: A-Scan, optical biometry, corneal topography, OCT, iDesign, Specular Microscopy.
Proficient in all roles in the laser suite (excimer and femtosecond)
