Eye Central is a full-scope optometry practice located in Queen Mary Park, Surrey, dedicated to delivering exceptional eye care to our growing, diverse community. We are looking for a motivated and personable Optician (or Optical Assistant working toward certification) to join our team.
WHAT YOU'LL DO
- Assist patients in selecting frames, lenses, and contact lenses suited to their prescription, lifestyle, and budget
- Take accurate measurements (PD, seg height, vertex distance) and prepare spectacle orders
- Dispense and adjust completed eyewear; troubleshoot fit and comfort issues
- Educate patients on lens options, coatings, and contact lens care
- Support front desk operations: scheduling appointments, answering calls, managing patient records, processing payments, and handling insurance and billing inquiries
- Assist the optometrist with pre-testing, equipment setup, and patient flow as needed
- Maintain a clean, organized, and welcoming optical dispensary
WHAT WE'RE LOOKING FOR
- Experience in optical dispensing or a customer-facing healthcare setting is an asset
- BC optician license is an asset but not required ? we welcome applicants currently in training or those with transferable experience
- Strong interpersonal skills and a genuine interest in helping people
- Comfortable multitasking across clinical and administrative duties
- Detail-oriented, reliable, and a team player
- Proficiency with basic computer systems; experience with optometry software is a bonus
COMPENSATION & DETAILS
- Full-time position
- Starting wage: $23.00/hr during a 3-month probationary period
- Up to $28.00/hr upon successful completion of probation, commensurate with experience and performance
