*Job Summary*
Are you dedicated to laying down the foundation for the perfect winter season? As an experienced Snow Maker at Vista Ridge All Seasons Park, you will be a vital part of our Mountain Operations team, responsible for the safe and efficient production of high-quality snow across our downhill runs, terrain parks, and staging areas. You will closely monitor weather patterns, operate specialized snowmaking equipment, and collaborate with the Snow Grooming department to maximize our snowpack and get the hill ready for our guests.
*Essential Job Functions*
* *Snow Production:* Operate, monitor, and maintain snow guns, fans, pumps, and water lines to maximize snow production and quality based on changing weather conditions. * *System Management:* Safely start up, shut down, and adjust snowmaking equipment; clear ice from equipment and perform routine field maintenance on lines and nozzles. * *Infrastructure Safety:* Assist with snow removal around lift lines, buildings, and pump stations, ensuring hoses and electrical cables are safely routed. * *System Logging:* Monitor and record system pressures, water flow, temperature readings, and equipment performance in daily operational logs. * *Team Collaboration:* Work closely with the Snow Grooming department to strategically place snow whales and ensure an optimal snowpack base across the park. * *Flexibility:* Perform other operational, maintenance, or park preparation duties as assigned.
*Required Qualifications & Abilities*
* *Experience:* Minimum of 2 years of previous winter snowmaking experience is required. * *Technical Skills:* Strong understanding of high-pressure water and air systems, snow gun mechanics, and automated/manual snowmaking infrastructure. Previous experience operating heavy machinery or snowmobiles is a strong asset. * *Attributes:* Must be highly dependable, safety-conscious, and able to work independently during demanding night or split shifts without direct supervision. * *Resilience:* Comfortable working in adverse, extreme, and rapidly changing winter environmental conditions (including freezing temperatures, wind, and wet environments).
*Working Conditions*
* Duties are strictly performed outdoors, overnight and during daytime hours, in a variety of harsh winter weather conditions. * Hours of operation are highly weather-dependent. This role requires exceptional schedule flexibility, including overnight shifts, weekends, and statutory holidays to take full advantage of snowmaking windows. * Physical requirements include lifting heavy hoses, climbing icy terrain, twisting, pulling, and performing strenuous manual tasks for extended periods.
