• Coordinate, schedule, and oversee payroll operations and related processes, ensuring timely and accurate execution of payroll activities across Payroll, HR, Finance, and other stakeholder groups. • Assign, prioritize, and monitor work performed by Payroll Analysts, including payroll production runs, pension-related payments, tax processing, year-end activities, remittances, and other payroll transactions; perform these activities as required. • Monitor payroll production cycles and system performance, ensuring successful completion of all payroll processing activities and responding to system issues or processing exceptions. • Provide direction and guidance to payroll staff and stakeholders on complex payroll matters, system issues, error correction, and processing requirements to ensure legislative, policy, and procedural compliance. • Ensure compliance with applicable legislation, regulatory requirements, collective agreements, and payroll policies, including statutory and third-party remittances, Records of Employment (ROEs), tax reporting, pension-related payments, and year-end filings. • Coordinate payroll activities involving internal and external stakeholders, including HR, Finance, auditors, government agencies, unions, service providers, and other business partners to resolve issues and meet reporting requirements. • Organize, coordinate, and execute payroll system testing, business requirements validation, system upgrades, legislative updates, year-end processing changes, and other system-related initiatives to ensure operational readiness and accuracy. • Coordinate and oversee large-scale payroll data uploads and mass transactions, working with HR, Compensation, Finance, and other stakeholders to ensure accurate and timely implementation. • Monitor payroll systems and processes, identify issues and risks, and implement corrective actions to maintain service levels, processing accuracy, and operational effectiveness. • Develop, maintain, test, and support Business Continuity and Disaster Recovery plans for payroll operations. • Lead temporary project teams and provide functional leadership, including work assignment, scheduling, coaching, training, and procedural guidance for Payroll Analysts and other staff. • Develop, update, and deliver training materials and programs to support knowledge transfer and consistent application of payroll processes, systems, and procedures. • Prepare and provide payroll reports, financial information, file extracts, journal entries, and other data required for operational, financial, audit, and regulatory purposes. • Investigate payroll accounting transactions, payroll discrepancies, and complex processing issues, and work with Finance and other stakeholders to ensure timely resolution. • Participate in decisions regarding payroll systems, processes, and operational improvements, recommending enhancements to improve efficiency, accuracy, compliance, and service delivery. • Represent Payroll Services in interactions with internal departments, auditors, government agencies, unions, and external organizations on payroll-related matters. • Act on behalf of the Team Leader, as assigned, and perform analytical projects and special assignment
