Our team is committed to providing quality food, respectful customer service, safe foodhandling, and a welcoming environment that reflects the values of Shelly's Indigenous Bistro.Position Summary- The Cook - Evenings supports evening kitchen operations, food preparation, cooking, line support, takeout and deliverypreparation, catering support, closing duties, and sanitation responsibilities. This role is responsible for preparing qualityfood in a timely, safe, and consistent manner while supporting the overall operation of Shelly's Indigenous Bistro.- The successful candidate will have previous kitchen experience, strong reliability, and the ability to work efficiently in afast-paced environment while maintaining high standards of food quality, cleanliness, safety, and teamwork.Core ResponsibilitiesPrepare vegetables, proteins, sauces, soups, side dishes, and other menu ingredientsCook and assemble menu items according to recipes, portion standards, and food preparation proceduresSupport takeout, delivery, catering, and special orders during assigned shiftsDemonstrate safe and effective knife skillsFollow food quality, presentation, portioning, packaging, and timing standardsAssist with line cooking, prep lists, and daily kitchen production needsSupport catering preparation, packaging, and event production as requiredEnsure proper food storage, labelling, dating, and FIFO rotationRestock ingredients, dry goods, supplies, and workstations as requiredMaintain clean, sanitized, and organized prep stations, cooking areas, storage areas, and equipmentComplete end-of-shift cleaning, sanitation, organization, and closing dutiesComplete cleaning and sanitation duties as assignedAssist with inventory counts, stock organization, and supply trackingOperate kitchen equipment safely and report maintenance concernsFollow all food safety, sanitation, and workplace safety requirementsWork collaboratively with cooks, supervisors, drivers, and front-end staffSupport teamwork and assist other departments when operationally requiredPerform other related duties as assigned2 | Page - Job Description - Cook - EveningsQualifications & ExperiencePrevious kitchen, prep cook, line cook, catering, restaurant, or food service experience is requiredExperience working in a commercial kitchen environment is preferredStrong knife skills and safe food preparation techniquesAbility to work efficiently in a fast-paced environmentAbility to follow recipes and instructions accuratelyStrong attention to detail and food qualityReliable attendance and punctualityAbility to work independently and as part of a teamPositive attitude and willingness to learnAbility to communicate respectfully with team members, supervisors, and other departmentsAbility to work evenings, weekends, statutory holidays, and catering events as requiredTraining & Certification RequirementsManitoba Food Handler Certification required or willingness to obtain upon hireWHMIS Certification required or willingness to obtain upon hireFirst Aid/CPR Certification is considered an assetMust participate in all required workplace safety, food safety, and operational trainingEmployment Requirements & Working Conditions- A three (3) month probationary period applies.
