About the role.McCain Foods (Canada) has an immediate opening for a 3rd Class Power Engineer at its potato processing facility located just outside of Carberry, Manitoba. Under the direction of the Chief Engineer, the successful power engineer will assume duties and responsibilities as provided under the Power Engineers Act. In addition, this person will participate in key factory activities. McCain Foods is 24 hours/ 7 day a week facility, operating various scheduled shifts, including days, nights, weekends and holidays. What you'll be doing.Operate refrigeration plant and ancillary equipment in a manner that contributes to the achievement of operational objectives.Responsible for the completion of all documentation and procedures for the area, including any and all established testing or monitoring requirements.Some maintenance work may be assigned.Participate in the continuous improvement of plant operating methods to help the site meet or exceed its Key Performance Indicators.Participate and be engaged in training self and others in Plant Safety Maintenance related to ammonia operation.All additional duties as they become assigned. What you'll need to be successful.Must hold a valid 3rd Class Engineer's CertificateMust be willing to work rotating shift work in a plant environment.Willingness to continue personal development toward 2nd Class Engineer's Certificate.Must have a demonstrated record of safe work habits.Preference will be given to candidates with ammonia refrigeration system experience.Experience of using computerized operational controls.Ability to work well with and provide support to plant supervision and production employees. Compensation Package: - Starting at 47.50 CAD hourly + Bonus eligibility + Hourly Pay Differential for applicable shifts The above reflects the target compensation range for the position at the time of posting.
