The RoleReceiving general direction from the Manager of Human Resources, this role supports the city's overall Occupational Health and Safety programs and initiatives. With a focus on in-house training, this position plays a critical role in maintaining compliance and promoting a strong safety culture.The Ideal CandidateGraduation from a recognized program in health, safety and/or environmental science or engineering and/or 2-3 years' experience for the administration of an OHS management program.Experience in delivering group training.Approved by WorkplaceNL to deliver certification training for various high-risk activities such as Confined Space Entry, Fall Protection, Traffic Control Persons, Power Line Hazards, etc.Professional safety designation such as the CHSC or CRSP would be an asset.Excellent computer skills and proficient with Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, Outlook & Access).Must possess a valid driver's license for the Province of Newfoundland and must be capable of being insured and maintaining continuity under the City's normal insurance policy.Ability to communicate effectively with members of the public in a responsible and professional manner.Ability to establish and maintain cooperative and productive working relationships.Ability to contribute as a team player with personal commitment to the City's mission, values and guiding principles and safety.Our Team is the Place for You!The City offers a respectful, safe and exciting work environment focused on public service, competitive compensation of $66,706 - $86,723, comprehensive programs in health and wellness and a defined benefit pension plan.
