We are interested in applicants who are enthusiastic, outgoing, and service-focused recent college or university graduates (preferably from a health-related field), or an individual currently working as a research assistant, for the position of Editorial Assistant (previous experience working for a peer-reviewed journal is strongly preferred).This is an exciting opportunity to join a growing editorial team as it supports a world-class community of editors-in-chief, editorial board members, reviewers, and authors. We are seeking someone with excellent administrative and organizational skills to coordinate communications and provide support to academic editors, authors, peer reviewers, and editorial staff. Primary Duties and ResponsibilitiesReporting to the Peer Review Manager and working closely with the editorial team, the Editorial Assistant handles scientific manuscripts for our peer-reviewed scientific journals, and works closely with academic editors, authors, peer reviewers, and editorial staff to ensure they have the resources they need. Note: No copyediting or writing is associated with this roleKey Responsibilities:Monitor and support the peer review processing of scientific articles, ensuring timely completion and sufficient follow-up with editors or reviewers, and assisting with identifying and assigning peer reviewersProvide user support through the Zendesk ticket systemSupport editors, authors, and peer reviewers by providing information and resourcesAssist Managing Editors and Scientific Editors in daily journal-related tasksAssess article submissions to ensure articles meet quality checks or formatting requirementsQualifications:EducationA university or college degree/diploma (Bachelors or Masters), preferably in medicine, science, information technology, library/information science, or an adjacent field.ExperienceProficiency with current office-productivity tools such as Google Suite, Microsoft Word, Slack, etc., as well as the ability to learn the organization?s web-based systems for communications and scholarly content deliveryExperience in peer-reviewed STM publishing, including familiarity with searches conducted on electronic databases (e.g., Pubmed), is strongly preferredExperience in a scientific field and personal interest OR Administrative experience, especially in publishing ORA combination of education and relevant experienceCompetenciesCustomer Focus - Is dedicated to meeting the needs and expectations of external and internal customers.
