Our 6,000 faculty and staff foster a vibrant, purpose-driven community, that celebrated 200 years of academic excellence in 2018.Job SummaryDalhousie University is administering the NovaGEOSCIENCE Program (the "Program") in partnership with the Nova Scotia Department of Natural Resources. The Program is a province-building initiative to digitize, modernize, and expand Nova Scotia's geoscience assets through a coordinated, AI-ready data modernization program. The initiative will begin with the large-scale digitization of provincial drill core and associated geoscience datasets and will also include the acquisition and integration of new, modernized geophysical data through targeted airborne survey programs. Reporting to the Program Director, the Site Coordinator will provide on‑site coordination and day‑to‑day support for drill core scanning activities at the Nova Scotia Core Library, the primary delivery location for the NovaGEOSCIENCE Program. The Site Coordinator will work closely with provincial staff and contractors to ensure smooth daily operations by assisting with access to core, facility coordination, and issue resolution.Key ResponsibilitiesMaintain regular on-site presence to support and coordinate core scanning operations at the Core Library.Act as the primary liaison between the scanning contractor and Core Library staff to ensure smooth day-to-day operations.Coordinate access to drill core, workspaces, and facilities to enable efficient scanning activities.Support core handling activities, including movement, staging, and sequencing in collaboration with contractors.Monitor daily operations, identify issues related to workflow, facilities, or safety, and escalate as needed. In collaboration with staff, oversee and report on facility renovations.Coordinate digitization of historical geoscience records in collaboration with contractors and Core Library staff.Note: Due to operational requirements, the successful applicant is required to work in-person at the Nova Scotia Core Library in Stellarton, Nova Scotia.Required QualificationsPost‑secondary education in a relevant field plus approximately two to three years' in a relevant field (or an equivalent combination of training and experience).Experience working in an operational, laboratory, warehouse, or field‑based environment.Strong interpersonal and coordination skills; ability to work effectively with contractors and government staff.Practical, problem‑solving mindset with attention to detail.Comfortable working primarily on site in an active operational environment.AssetsExperience with the mining sector and/or core handling.Job CompetenciesThe successful candidate is expected to demonstrate proficiency in Dalhousie's core competencies, in particular:Respect & InclusionAdaptabilityKnowledge
